The Omani delegation: “The Center opens a new chapter of historical significance for the entire world”
Eight years ago, the symbolic foundation stone of the majestic Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan was laid by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Over the past two years, construction works intensified, and today the grand complex stands fully completed, attracting the attention of the international community. This scientific and educational institution is gaining wide recognition as an important platform presenting Uzbekistan’s rich civilizational heritage to the global community.
On June 15, 2018, when President Shavkat Mirziyoyev laid the symbolic foundation stone of the Center, he emphasized that this institution would not merely be an architectural complex, but a major scientific and educational center dedicated to the in-depth study of Islamic enlightenment and to conveying the invaluable scholarly and spiritual heritage of our ancestors to our people and to the world.
Today, this noble idea has found practical confirmation. The Center is becoming an important venue that showcases Uzbekistan’s rich civilizational legacy on the international stage and strengthens scientific dialogue and intercultural cooperation. Built over eight years at the initiative of the President, the Center remains at the focus of global attention, welcoming delegations from various countries around the world.
The next high-level visit was that of a 15-member delegation led by Khamis bin Mohammed Al-Shamakhi, Deputy Minister of Transport of Oman.
During the visit, the guests explored the Center’s four main exhibition halls and received detailed information about each section. The unique historical and cultural heritage on display left a strong impression on the delegation members. In particular, the interactive monitors created using artificial intelligence technologies and the clear and engaging presentation of the exhibitions were highly praised by the guests. The opportunity to take photos through an interactive monitor featuring Sogdian attire brought sincere delight to the delegation members.
During the visit, the parties also paid special attention to further developing cultural and humanitarian cooperation between Oman and Uzbekistan.
Khamis bin Mohammed Al-Shamakhi, Deputy Minister of Transport of Oman:
“First of all, we congratulate the Republic of Uzbekistan on this great structure — the Islamic Civilization Center. This institution embodies an important part of the vast civilization that has developed on the territory of Uzbekistan over centuries.
The Center reflects not only the history of Uzbekistan, but also the history of the entire Islamic Ummah. Here, scholars and leaders who made unparalleled contributions to the advancement of science are commemorated. Their influence extended not only across this land, but throughout the world.
The exhibits we have seen and the information we have learned once again demonstrate the greatness of the distinguished Ummah that lived on the territory of Uzbekistan. This Center opens a new chapter of historical significance not only for the country, but for the entire world.”
