The French scholar was deeply impressed by the Timurid heritage

French scholar Frederic Bressan, President of the Association of Art and History of the Timurids in France, visited the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan.

During her visit, the French scholar familiarized herself with the special office established at the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan for the Timurid Association, alongside prestigious international organizations such as UNESCO, ICESCO, IRCICA, and TURKSOY. This initiative, put forward by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, aims to deeply study the scientific heritage of Islamic civilization, integrate it into the global academic and cultural sphere, and expand Uzbekistan’s potential in this field. Expressing her gratitude for the attention and opportunities created, the scholar emphasized that the dedicated office for the association she leads would serve as an important platform for studying the Timurid heritage, developing scientific cooperation, and promoting it at the international level.

As part of the visit, Frederic Bressan also explored the Center’s exhibitions. She was deeply impressed by the rare manuscripts in the Qur’an Hall and their modern presentation, as well as the rich historical and cultural heritage displayed in the section dedicated to the Second Renaissance — the Timurid era. The exhibitions vividly showcase the statehood traditions of the Timurid dynasty and their contribution to the development of science and culture through modern multimedia technologies.

Frederic Bressan, President of the Association of Art and History of the Timurids in France:

“I am truly amazed, as I never expected to see such a dedicated space. I felt especially proud to see the logo of the Timurid Society. This association has been active for many years. What impressed me most is that it started as a modest initiative and has now been operating steadily for 37 years. All of this is connected to the legacy of Amir Temur and the Timurids. I particularly admire Mirzo Ulugbek. We have been actively promoting the Timurid heritage in France, Europe, and America. To this end, numerous scientific conferences, research projects, and cultural events have been organized. Today, seeing such a modern Center established in Uzbekistan makes me very happy.

The exhibition and presentation at the Center are organized at a very high level. This place attracts many visitors and leaves a deep impression on them. The unique exhibits and rich heritage here truly deserve high recognition. At the same time, the association is currently working on a book titled ‘Passion Ouzbékistan’ — ‘Love for Uzbekistan.’ This publication aims to summarize the activities carried out over the past thirty years and to highlight the friendship and cooperation between the Uzbek and French peoples. Today, the opportunities created to present this rich heritage to the world bring me great joy.”
