Former President of Hungary: “I discovered the history of Central Asia from a new perspective”

Katalin Novák, Former President of Hungary

“I deeply appreciate the idea of creating such a remarkable museum dedicated to Islamic culture and history. I believe it is essential for us to learn about one another’s cultures and understand our historical roots. I have always wanted to explore the history of Uzbekistan, and this Center has left a profound impression on me.

What fascinated me most was the opportunity to view history from a completely different perspective. I come from Hungary, where we approach history including world history from a rather different viewpoint. As a Christian, I have studied historical developments and the progress of science primarily through the lens of Christianity. Here, however, I had the opportunity to experience the perspective of Central Asia. It was truly a fascinating and deeply moving experience for me.

I would certainly recommend that every young person visit this Center. When we studied these subjects at school, we never had the opportunity to explore history in such a vivid and interactive way. Artificial intelligence and modern exhibition technologies make it much easier to understand history, as well as the historical roots of the Uzbek people. Reading about ancient civilizations is valuable, but seeing them brought to life enables people to better understand, visualize, and truly experience the past. I am sincerely grateful for the opportunity to visit the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan.”
