World Bank Vice President visits the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan
A delegation led by Antonella Bassani, Vice President for Europe and Central Asia at the World Bank, and Bo Li, Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, visited the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan as part of their official visit to Uzbekistan.
During the visit, the delegation toured the Center’s exhibition halls, learning about its role not only as a museum showcasing 3,000 years of history, but also as an international scientific and educational platform. They were introduced to the Center’s partnerships with leading foreign universities and research institutions, as well as its forward-looking initiatives aimed at preserving, digitizing, and passing on cultural heritage to future generations.
Sharing her impressions, Antonella Bassani, Vice President for Europe and Central Asia at the World Bank, said that the visit had inspired her to return to the Center.
“This is a place where you do not simply observe history you truly experience it. I had long hoped to visit this Center, and I am delighted that this wish has finally come true. Every exhibition and every artifact tells the story of Uzbekistan’s rich history and its remarkable contribution to the development of Islamic civilization. I was especially impressed by the historical manuscripts and rare exhibits. I would very much like to return to this Center,” she said.
At the conclusion of the visit, Antonella Bassani also left her wishes and reflections in the Center’s Book of Honored Guests.
