Uzbekistan’s centuries-old history, the legacy of great civilizations, and its modern scientific and educational potential made a strong impression on representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus. The Belarusian delegation, which participated in the international scientific and practical conference titled “Independent Uzbekistan — the path of development: 35 years of reforms, achievements and prospects” held in Tashkent, visited the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan and gained a closer insight into the country’s historical and cultural heritage.

During the visit, members of the delegation paid particular attention to the distinctive concept and historical content of each hall at the Center.

Lyudmila Sapego, a member of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, noted that the Center’s architecture, exhibitions, and overall concept had made a profound impression on her.

In her view, the Center presents Uzbekistan’s history and national traditions as an integrated whole within a single space.

“Indeed, this is a truly distinctive and impressive structure. One can clearly see that it reflects the traditions and history of the entire country. A nation that treats its history with such great care will undoubtedly have a happy and even brighter future. Great history. Great civilizations. Great discoveries. Everything I have seen and heard here is unique and unforgettable. I truly want to share all of this with every Belarusian to whom I will speak about my visit to Uzbekistan. The role of the head of state, the esteemed President of Uzbekistan, who has devoted tremendous attention to preserving culture and traditions and ensuring that the people know where it all began and how the country will continue to develop, is invaluable. This is extremely precious and important.”

A representative of the Belarusian delegation, Irina Tokareva, a member of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus and a member of the Standing Commission on International Affairs, drew attention to another important aspect of the Center. She emphasized that it would be incorrect to view the Islamic Civilization Center solely as a museum. Tokareva noted that the Center’s close integration with science and education further enhances its significance.

“This is not merely an architectural complex; what matters most is its substance and purpose. The fact that more than 400 scholars and researchers work at the Center makes it not only a place where historical heritage is showcased, but also an important platform for scientific research and the exchange of knowledge. This reflects a key approach underlying the Center’s concept: alongside presenting history, it seeks to research, study, and transmit it to future generations. The attention being paid today to education and science, particularly through the implementation of major scientific and educational projects, plays an important role in shaping the worldview of young people.”
