The second part of the international media forum “Islamic Civilization: New Perspective — New Discoveries,” being held in Tashkent, discussed the significance of the Islamic Civilization Center in presenting Uzbekistan’s history and cultural heritage to a global audience. According to Avesta.tj, media representatives from more than 46 countries focused on promoting historical heritage through modern media tools and developing international cultural and academic cooperation.

At the forum, the Center was recognized as an important platform bringing together history, science, and enlightenment, with particular attention given to projects being implemented in cooperation with international media organizations such as Euronews, CNN, BBC, and TRT. Participants emphasized that such cooperation would help introduce Uzbekistan’s rich civilizational heritage to a broader international audience.

The second part of the international media forum “Islamic Civilization: New Perspective — New Discoveries” is being held in Tashkent under the theme “The Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan — a new hub for a great heritage.” It brings together executives and representatives of prominent media outlets, television channels, and news agencies, as well as journalists, producers, and experts in the fields of media and culture from more than 46 countries around the world.

As forum participants noted, the modern study of history requires not only the preservation of facts and artifacts but also their interpretation from new perspectives. Particular attention is being paid to the role of modern media in disseminating knowledge about historical and cultural heritage and fostering international dialogue among peoples and civilizations.

The speakers presented the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan as a space that brings together history and the future, national memory, science, and enlightenment. It was emphasized that the Center’s activities are aimed at showcasing Uzbekistan’s contribution to the development of human civilization to the global community.

Participants also placed particular emphasis on the need to make historical heritage more accessible and engaging for new generations. In their view, history should not remain confined to museum exhibits, while cultural heritage should become an integral part of contemporary social and intellectual dialogue.

One of the forum’s key topics was the role of enlightenment in countering ignorance, stereotypes, and misconceptions about Islam. Participants stressed the importance of presenting the history of Islamic civilization and its contributions to the development of mathematics, astronomy, medicine, philosophy, literature, architecture, and education in an objective and academically grounded manner.

In this regard, media representatives called for coordinated efforts among television channels, news agencies, radio stations, online publications, journalists, bloggers, and content creators to widely promote knowledge about Islamic civilization.

As noted at the forum, the role of modern media is not only to disseminate information but also to create new opportunities for international cultural and academic cooperation. Practical outcomes of such cooperation include the production of new documentaries and television programs, the development of special projects by international news agencies, as well as greater collaboration among museums, scholars, and journalists.

The speakers also addressed the Islamic Civilization Center’s cooperation with international media companies and organizations. In particular, it was noted that, in partnership with Euronews, more than 100 media materials on reforms in Uzbekistan, spiritual and educational developments, and the activities of the Islamic Civilization Center had been produced and presented to international audiences.

It was also announced that a number of special projects dedicated to Uzbekistan’s historical heritage, the country’s modern development, and the activities of the Islamic Civilization Center were being implemented in cooperation with CNN.

Cooperation with British film producer Salim Ahmed was also highlighted. As part of this collaboration, a series of films featuring Hollywood actor Ben Kingsley was produced, focusing on the history of Uzbekistan and the legacy of its great ancestors.

The forum also expressed gratitude to BBC Studios representative Sergey Stanovkin. His contribution to the production of films, reports, and other video materials in cooperation with the BBC was highly appreciated.

Participants also acknowledged cooperation with Russia’s “Masterskaya” television channel. As part of this collaboration, documentaries dedicated to the history of Uzbekistan, the country’s cultural heritage, and prominent historical figures were produced.

The speakers paid particular attention to cooperation with TRT. During the months of Ramadan in 2025 and 2026, nearly 100 thematic programs on reforms in Uzbekistan, the country’s cultural heritage, and the lives and scholarly legacy of great ancestors were jointly produced and broadcast.

Considerable attention was also given to publishing projects being implemented in cooperation with international organizations and foreign publishing houses. In particular, various books and albums were presented as part of the international conference dedicated to the 690th anniversary of Amir Temur’s birth and the First Islamic Civilization Forum.

Among them were “Shavkat Mirziyoyev: Enlightened Leader” by IRCICA Director General Mahmud Erol Kılıç, the publication of “Al-Jami‘ al-Sahih” prepared in cooperation with ICESCO as part of the “Ummah” series, as well as “The road to Samarkand” by British journalist and writer Calum MacLeod, published in cooperation with Belgrave Publishing.

In addition, facsimile editions were prepared and published in cooperation with Austria’s Mueller & Schindler publishing house.

As part of cooperation with Türkiye’s Mega Basım publishing house, nearly 80 book-albums dedicated to Uzbekistan’s cultural heritage were published. A comprehensive gift edition dedicated to the great figures in the country’s history was also prepared.

The forum is being attended by representatives of Uzbekistan’s government institutions and organizations, as well as professional communities associated with the media sector.

According to participants, further strengthening cooperation among media outlets, academic institutions, and cultural organizations will make it possible to present Uzbekistan’s history, culture, and spiritual heritage more broadly to the international community.

As part of the forum, participants will have an opportunity to explore the exhibitions of the Islamic Civilization Center and learn about its academic and educational projects, as well as gain deeper insight into Samarkand’s historical heritage, the legacy of Imam Bukhari, and Uzbekistan’s cultural landscape.

It was noted that one of the forum’s objectives is not merely to showcase historical materials, but also to develop new ideas, themes, and international projects that will contribute to a deeper study and broader promotion of Uzbekistan’s heritage.

It was emphasized that this approach is closely linked to the idea of the Third Renaissance, which views historical heritage as a source of knowledge and inspiration for future development.

Forum participants also highlighted the importance of international cooperation and Uzbekistan’s policy of openness. Representatives of foreign media outlets were recognized as partners in establishing new educational and cultural ties between Uzbekistan and other countries.

In their concluding remarks, the speakers expressed gratitude to journalists, cultural figures, and representatives of media and international organizations involved in promoting the ideals of peace, justice, enlightenment, and tolerance.
