Saudi Arabia’s Ar-Riyadh 24 published an article on the international media forum held in Tashkent. It noted that journalists and media representatives from 46 countries took part in the forum, where discussions focused on promoting the historical heritage of Islamic civilization to global audiences through modern media, the use of artificial intelligence, and strengthening international media cooperation. Opening and objectives of the event

On Wednesday, August 26, 2026, the international media forum titled “Islamic Civilization: New Perspective, New Discoveries” concluded its work in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. Organized to mark the 35th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the event focused on promoting the historical heritage and cultural values of Islamic civilization to a global audience through modern media.

Participants and discussions

Media representatives from 46 countries around the world took part in the forum. Among them were representatives from Türkiye, including Faruk Tokat, Director of the Foreign News Department, who participated on behalf of the agency. Media organizations, journalists, academics, and experts from various fields from different countries also attended the forum.

During the discussions, participants exchanged views on promoting the historical heritage of Islamic civilization worldwide, making effective use of new media tools, and Uzbekistan’s role in presenting this heritage on the international stage.

Side events and the upcoming visit

Two sessions were held on the second day of the forum. They focused on the heritage passed down from generation to generation over the centuries and the spiritual essence of Islamic civilization, as well as the path from historical heritage toward a new renaissance and Uzbekistan’s role in advancing the understanding of Islamic civilization.

A presentation was also held demonstrating how artificial intelligence can be used as a digital tool for studying and deciphering ancient manuscripts. Another presentation explored the potential applications of this technology in the preservation of historical monuments and in journalism.

In addition, the book “Shavkat Mirziyoyev: An Enlightened Leader,” published by the Research Centre for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA), was presented.

At the conclusion of the event, participants adopted final documents aimed at promoting Uzbekistan’s Islamic and civilizational heritage to a wider global audience, as well as further strengthening dialogue and cooperation among media organizations from different countries.

On August 27, the participants are scheduled to visit the historic city of Samarkand, where they will explore historical sites included on the UNESCO World Heritage List. They will also visit the Imam Bukhari Complex and the international scientific research center specializing in hadith studies.
