Built on the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan is emerging not only as a unique complex that brings together the nation’s history and spiritual heritage, but also as an international scholarly and educational platform showcasing Uzbekistan’s civilizational potential to the world. The Center’s current capabilities, the scholarly legacy of our great thinkers, and the academic schools that developed in our country will now be widely presented on the United Nations’ global platform for dialogue. The next important step on the international stage in advancing this noble initiative launched by the President was discussed in New York.

Recently, a working group comprising Komiljon Shermuhamedov, Director of the Imam Maturidi International Scientific Research Center, Oybek Sotvoldiyev, a research fellow at the Center, and Saidaskar Hashimov, Director of the World Society for the Study, Preservation and Promotion of the Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan, visited the United Nations Headquarters in New York, United States.

As part of the visit, a meeting was held with Ms. Nihal Saad, Director of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations.

During the meeting, the concept of holding special presentations at the United Nations dedicated to the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan and the scholarly and spiritual heritage of our great scholars, including Imam Bukhari, Imam Maturidi, and Imam Tirmidhi, was discussed.

This initiative is particularly significant as it aims to present Uzbekistan’s rich historical and scholarly heritage to the international community through a new approach and perspective, while highlighting the role of the civilizational schools that emerged on our land in the development of humanity.

During the discussions, the Director of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, taking into account the organization’s key priorities and objectives, proposed expanding the scope of the exhibitions to be presented and showcasing the legacy of Uzbekistan’s scholars in the broader context of the history and development of world civilization.

The participants also exchanged views on further enriching the content of the international conference and providing broader coverage of scholarly and educational dialogue among civilizations, cultural cooperation, and mutual understanding.

The meeting also included information on the activities of the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan and the Imam Bukhari, Imam Maturidi, and Imam Tirmidhi International Scientific Research Centers, as well as their ongoing research, educational, and international projects.

The meeting in New York became a practical step toward bringing Uzbekistan’s civilizational heritage to the prestigious international platform of the United Nations, as a consistent continuation of the President’s initiative.

At the conclusion of the meeting, proposals were put forward to further develop cooperation with the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, widely promote the Islamic Civilization Center and the legacy of great scholars at the international level, and implement joint scholarly, educational, and cultural projects.

Today, the Islamic Civilization Center rising in Tashkent is a modern platform dedicated to preserving the great heritage of the past and transforming it into a legacy for future generations and all humanity. Its presentation at the United Nations will be an important step in showcasing Uzbekistan’s new international initiatives based on the principle of “knowledge — enlightenment — dialogue among civilizations.”
