The Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan wins the Terres gold award in Spain

The Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan has won a Gold Award at the 10th anniversary edition of the Terres Travel Festival – Films & Creativity 2026, held in Spain. Audiovisual projects from more than 40 countries around the world took part in the festival. The award, presented in the “Tourism Service” category, was given to the film “Whispers of Wisdom,” featuring Academy Award winner Ben Kingsley.
The Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan is a landmark project initiated by President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, aimed at studying, preserving, and presenting to the world the scientific, spiritual, and cultural heritage of Islamic civilization.
The Terres Festival Gold Award continued the international success of the film “Whispers of Wisdom.” In 2026, the film became a finalist at the New York Festivals and the Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards, received recognition at the SILKFEST 26 festival in Belgrade, and subsequently won the Terres Gold Award in Spain. The project presents Uzbekistan as a land of historical memory, science, culture, and enlightenment, while highlighting the contribution of Islamic civilization to the development of human thought.
The Terres Travel Festival recognizes projects that showcase the tourism potential of countries and regions, generate interest in their cultural heritage, and inspire international audiences to travel. In this context, “Whispers of Wisdom” presents Uzbekistan not merely as a tourist destination, but as a land of great scholars, thinkers, and discoveries where history, culture, science, and spiritual heritage converge.
The participation of the legendary Ben Kingsley holds a special place in the project. The actor won an Academy Award for his role in “Gandhi” and is also widely known to international audiences for portraying Abu Ali ibn Sina (Avicenna) in the historical drama “The Physician.” In “Whispers of Wisdom,” Kingsley introduces Uzbekistan’s distinguished scholars and thinkers and tells the story of Islamic civilization, which made a significant contribution to the development of science, education, culture, and human thought.
The Terres Gold Award has added to the Center’s growing list of international achievements. In 2026, it was officially entered into the Guinness World Records as the “The largest museum of Islamic civilization (by floor area),” while TURKSOY recognized it as the “Best Museum of the Turkic World.” In 2025, the Center received the International Avicenna Award. In addition, at the World Halal Tourism Summit held in Singapore, it was honored with the “Islamic Heritage Site of the Year” award.
The Terres Travel Festival is held in Tortosa, Catalonia, and is dedicated to films about travel, tourism, culture, and destinations. The festival is an official member of CIFFT — the International Committee of Tourism Film Festivals. Award-winning works are included in the CIFFT Ranking – World’s Best Tourism Films.
