The Center of Islamic Civilization, whose construction is nearing completion in the capital of Uzbekistan, is set to become one of the largest spiritual and educational complexes not only in the country but in the entire region. At present, decoration and installation of exhibits are in full swing. The most majestic and grand part of the complex is the 65-meter dome. It is not just an architectural marvel but also a structure of profound symbolic meaning.

The 20th century was a time of trials and tremendous change in Uzbekistan’s history. Our people transitioned from being a colony of Tsarist Russia to becoming part of the Soviet system, and later achieved independence. During this journey, various leaders guided the country, each leaving a mark on history through their political views, decisions, and practical actions.

On October 1 — in honor of “Teachers and Mentors Day” the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan welcomed distinguished guests: Dr. Ibrahim Al Hajri, recipient of the “Friendship” Order and President of Khalifa University of Science and Technology (UAE); King Stephen Richard, Regional Coordinator for Europe, Central Asia, and the Americas at Cambridge University Press & Assessment (UK); and Wolfgang A. Herrmann, President of “New Uzbekistan” University.

The Fergana Valley holds a special place as one of the earliest centers of statehood and cultural development in human civilization. Its geographical location, proximity to trade routes, and natural resources have long attracted people to this region. Archaeological findings show that as early as the first millennium BCE, an urban culture emerged here, with agriculture, animal husbandry, and handicrafts developing.
