From an Ancient Covenant to a Digital Platform: The Azerbaijani Delegation Impressed by the Continuity in the Exhibition

A delegation consisting of Deputy Chairman at Azerbaijan’s Food Safety Agency and Quarantine Agency visited the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan and highly praised its interactive and educational solutions.
According to the guests, the Center not only showcases historical heritage but also engages visitors in active dialogue and learning through modern technologies.
During the visit, the delegation showed particular interest in the interactive and historical exhibitions. In the Pre-Islamic Period section, the chess installations attracted their attention. The opportunity to play chess at various levels of difficulty on a special board was evaluated as an effective method of attracting young people and the wider public to the museum.
In the Bactrian civilization section of the “Pre-Islamic Period” exhibition, an ancient agreement document — a sample of a historical covenant from that era — sparked great interest among the delegation members. The guests emphasized that the preservation and public display of such a historical document provide important insight into the legal and social relations of that time. The collection of Sogdian fabrics, their delicate patterns, and the high level of textile craftsmanship were also particularly acknowledged.
In the “Wall of Civilizations and Discoveries” section, interactive programs dedicated to medicine, science and education, literature, hadith studies, and calligraphy encouraged active participation by the delegation members. It was noted that this approach allows each visitor to gain a personal impression and acquire knowledge, further enhancing the Center’s educational significance.
In the “New Uzbekistan — The Foundation of a New Renaissance” section, the interactive platform enabling visitors to directly submit appeals to the head of state or relevant institutions was highly appreciated by the delegation. The guests emphasized that such an open communication format demonstrates a modern and citizen-oriented approach in museum practice.
Tamilla Aliyeva, Deputy Chairman at Azerbaijan Food Safety Agency:
I have visited many countries and almost always visit museums in each of them. However, what I saw here today exceeded my expectations. This is a remarkable museum, very thoughtfully designed. The ancient handcrafted artifacts and the careful selection of exhibits are astonishing. It is even difficult to describe in words — it is simply magnificent. Our peoples are historically ancient nations. We must preserve our culture and pass it on to future generations.
According to the delegation members, the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan represents an advanced example of presenting historical heritage in a modern format and engaging the younger generation in cultural values.
