The Swedish delegation witnessed an important historical evidence in the exhibition
A diplomatic correspondence sent from Central Asia to Europe in the 14th century has not lost its relevance even today. It was precisely this exhibition at the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan that particularly impressed the delegation led by Torbjörn Sohlström, Director-General of the Department for Euro-Atlantic and Security Policy at the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
During their visit to the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan, the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs delegation closely explored three of the Center’s halls.
In the Second Renaissance Hall, the letter sent by Amir Temur to King Charles VI of France, along with the king’s reply, drew special attention from the delegation members.
Torbjörn Sohlström, Director-General of the Department at the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, stated:
This letter demonstrates that relations between Europe and Central Asia are far deeper and more ancient than many might assume. For me, it was a very interesting and important historical document. It is not only about the past — it also serves as a meaningful foundation for today’s relations.
According to him, the presentation of the exhibition through modern technologies made the historical content even more impactful. The contemporary monitors, digital display tools, and multimedia solutions in the “Hall of Honor” generated significant interest among the guests.
The exhibition’s strong visual and technological design was particularly acknowledged. The Great Silk Road exhibition in the “Pre-Islamic Period” section effectively and logically illustrated connections between civilizations, leaving a distinct impression on the delegation members.
The Nilometer of Ahmad Fergani displayed in the First Renaissance section also attracted considerable attention.
The presentation of scientific heritage in a modern format clearly demonstrated the harmonious integration of history and innovative approaches at the Center.
Delegation members emphasized the effective use of artificial intelligence and modern technologies in the exhibitions, noting that such an approach is both accessible and impactful for an international audience. The visit of the Swedish delegation once again confirmed that the Center’s exhibitions are highly valued on the international stage.
