A new institutional phase is beginning in the religious and educational sphere of Uzbekistan. At a recent meeting held at the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan, an initiative was proposed to establish the “Tamaddun” Association with the aim of studying scholarly heritage on a unified platform and promoting it globally. This initiative is regarded as a logical continuation of the spiritual and educational reforms being carried out in the country.

Consistent reforms are being implemented in the religious and educational sphere, alongside other sectors. The Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan, established at the initiative of the President of the country, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and presented to both national and international communities as a scientific and educational institution, marked the beginning of a new stage in these efforts.

Now, the practical implementation of these initiatives and the systematic, coordinated promotion of our national scholarly heritage are becoming pressing priorities.

For this purpose, an expanded meeting was held with the participation of representatives from the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan, the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan, the Tashkent Islamic Institute, as well as the Imam Bukhari International Research Center, the Imam Maturidi International Research Center, the Imam Termizi International Research Center, and the Bahauddin Naqshband Memorial Complex.

The most important item on the meeting agenda was the initiative to establish the “Tamaddun” Association to coordinate the activities of religious and educational institutions. The Association is intended to organize the study, promotion, and international presentation of scholarly heritage on a unified platform.

As emphasized, the planned “Tamaddun” Association aims to:

• conduct comprehensive research and promotion of scholarly heritage;
• strengthen cooperation among religious and educational organizations;
• expand international scientific and cultural relations;
• disseminate spiritual heritage to the wider public through modern media platforms.

The meeting also discussed the implementation of the initiatives put forward by the Head of State at the United Nations. In particular, a presentation concept was developed to promote internationally the legacy of great scholars — Imam Bukhari, Imam Termizi, and Imam Maturidi — and a detailed action plan and specific roadmap were defined.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the draft charter and concept of the “Tamaddun” Association were discussed, and it was agreed to submit them to the relevant leadership for approval.

According to experts, this initiative will represent an important step toward elevating institutional cooperation in the religious and educational sphere to a new level and systematically promoting our national scholarly heritage on the global stage.
