Head of the Asian Judo Union: “It is a source of pride that such a center exists in Uzbekistan”

Distinguished by its grandeur, architectural design, scientific content, and the scale of its exhibitions, the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan is today becoming an important spiritual and scholarly institution not only for our country but also for the entire Muslim world. This complex, which presents the history, culture, and development of Islamic civilizations within a unified conceptual framework, has been highly appreciated by many foreign experts and representatives of international organizations.

Official delegations from various countries, leaders of international organizations, scholars, and cultural figures regularly visit the Center, recognizing its scientific concept, interactive approach, and experience in presenting historical heritage through modern interpretation.

This time, the list of distinguished guests was continued by a delegation led by the President of the Asian Judo Union. As the guests carefully explored each section, guides provided detailed information about the exhibits, historical sources, and scholarly heritage. Members of the delegation were especially impressed by the scientific discoveries and the legacy of scholars presented in the section dedicated to the First Renaissance.

The exhibition dedicated to Bayt al-Hikma, located in the second capsule, also attracted special interest from the guests. It was emphasized that Muhammad al-Khwarizmi once headed this scientific center, founded the science of algebra, and that his scholarly legacy continues to play an important role in the development of modern science.

The activities of Ahmad al-Fergani also received particular recognition from the delegation. His invention — the Nilometer, which functioned based on the laws of hydrostatics and made it possible to determine the water level of the Nile River, thereby helping to predict agricultural productivity, taxation, and potential droughts or floods — greatly impressed the guests. It was especially noted that the connection between science, state governance, and economic life had already been well established at that time.

In the section titled “New Uzbekistan — the Foundation of a New Renaissance,” the delegation became acquainted with the country’s modern stage of development. In particular, the section dedicated to youth and sports left a strong impression on the guests. Here, the achievements of Uzbek athletes in prestigious international competitions and the Olympic Games in recent years, as well as the attention and support provided by the state, are widely presented.

For representatives of the sports sector, it was especially noteworthy that the achievements of modern athletes are presented alongside historical heritage in the museum’s exposition.

Obaid Al-Anzi, President of the Asian Judo Union:

Two years ago, when I visited this place, the Center was still under construction. Today, seeing it fully completed amazes me. It is a great pride for me to see such a grand and meaningful center in Uzbekistan. Here, extensive information is presented about the rich heritage of Islamic history and great scholars such as Imam Bukhari and Imam Tirmidhi. This is an important center not only for Uzbekistan but for all Muslim countries.

He particularly noted that the exhibits related to Imam Bukhari and Imam Tirmidhi left a deep impression on him. It was emphasized that the legacy of these great scholars, who were among the most prominent figures in the science of hadith, continues to serve as one of the main sources for the entire Muslim world today.
