Azerbaijani delegation: “History should be presented through museums like this”
“Even by reading fifty books, it may be difficult to gain such an understanding of history. History should be presented through modern museums like this.”
This idea was emphasized by Vugar Gulmammadov, Chairman of the Chamber of Accounts of the Republic of Azerbaijan, during his visit to the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan.
A delegation led by Vugar Gulmammadov, Chairman of the Chamber of Accounts of the Republic of Azerbaijan, visited the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan. The guests closely familiarized themselves with the Center’s exhibitions and noted that this institution is one of the unique scientific and educational complexes dedicated to the history and civilization of Islam not only in Central Asia but also worldwide.
Members of the delegation showed particular interest in the exhibitions dedicated to ancient written sources. In particular, the pages of the book “Avesta,” the prayer passages contained in it, and texts written in the Avestan script attracted the guests’ attention. The map of the Great Silk Road also sparked great interest among the delegation members and led to many questions.
The representatives of the delegation also interacted with the avatar of Amir Temur and had the opportunity to receive virtual answers to their questions about the life and activities of the great commander. This interactive experience was highly appreciated by the guests.
They also highly valued the Qur’an copied by Umar Aqta during the era of Amir Temur, the model of the Oqsaroy complex built during the Timurid period, and the presence of the Azerbaijani language on the touch panels at the Center.
During the visit, members of the Azerbaijani delegation also touched upon the issue of tourism, emphasizing that Uzbekistan is currently being widely promoted in Azerbaijan’s tourism advertising campaigns. According to them, advertisements mainly feature historic cities such as Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva.
The delegation representatives noted that the Islamic Civilization Center should also be included in this list, emphasizing that this would help present Uzbekistan’s tourism potential even more broadly.
Vugar Gulmammadov, Chairman of the Chamber of Accounts of the Republic of Azerbaijan:
“It can be said with confidence that this Center is a unique scientific and educational institution dedicated to Islamic history, with few equivalents not only in Central Asia but in the entire world.
Through the Center’s exhibitions, a person can gain a very detailed understanding of their origins, historical roots, the era in which they lived, and the great political and public figures who emerged during that time.
Sometimes it is difficult to form such a broad understanding of history even by reading dozens of books. Presenting history in places like this, through interactive and modern technologies, including artificial intelligence, is a very effective approach.
This makes history much more understandable and engaging for visitors. Some museums do not attract people — one may even wonder, ‘Should I go there or not?’ But this Center is a project of an entirely different level.
Usually, when tourists come to Uzbekistan, they plan to visit Samarkand, Bukhara, or Khiva. However, in my opinion, one of the most important places that every person visiting Tashkent should see is this very Center.
This place is very interesting and beneficial both for children and adults. Educating the younger generation in the spirit of respect for history should be carried out precisely through such modern and interactive methods.
Once again I say: even by reading fifty books, it may be difficult to gain such an understanding. From now on, history should be presented in modern forms through museums like this.
I would like to thank all those who created this remarkable project. We also express our gratitude to the author of this idea, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev.”
At the end of the visit, the delegation of the Chamber of Accounts of the Republic of Azerbaijan expressed their gratitude to the Center’s team and presented a souvenir depicting the administrative building of the Chamber of Accounts as a commemorative gift.
