The Wall Street Journal: The Islamic Civilization Center brings together a rich historical heritage
A feature article dedicated to the opening of the Islamic Civilization Center was published in the prestigious international outlet The Wall Street Journal. The Center is recognized as one of the largest cultural and scientific projects of the New Uzbekistan. Built in accordance with the architectural traditions of the Timurid era and developed as an authorial project of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the Center is presented as a unique space where the legacy of the Great Silk Road is harmoniously combined with advanced technologies and modern scientific approaches.
The article emphasizes that the Center is not merely a museum complex, but a comprehensive international platform focused on scientific research, cultural dialogue, and the preservation of Islamic civilization’s heritage. Covering nearly 10 hectares, the complex includes museum exhibitions, research and restoration laboratories, as well as a specialized library.
Special attention is given to the Center’s main exhibit — the Uthman Mushaf, one of the oldest Qur’an manuscripts dating back to the 7th century, which is included in UNESCO’s World Heritage register. At the same time, the use of modern immersive technologies, interactive solutions, and 3D reconstructions enables a new interpretation of the history of Islamic civilization and the contribution of Central Asia to the development of world science and culture.
The publication of this article during the days of the Center’s opening confirms the growing international interest in Uzbekistan and highlights the country’s increasing role in shaping a new global balance through culture, science, and dialogue among civilizations.
The Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan is becoming not only a symbol of heritage preservation, but also a new hub of global scientific and cultural cooperation.
