Italy’s Minister of Agriculture: “Many achievements in today’s civilizational development are not accidental”
As part of the “Italy – Central Asia (C5) + Azerbaijan” Business Forum, members of a foreign delegation visited the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan. This visit provided guests with an opportunity to closely explore the country’s rich history, cultural heritage, and modern scientific and educational potential.
During the visit, the delegation members thoroughly ознакомились with the Center’s exhibitions, examining with great interest unique artifacts that reflect the stages of civilizational development from ancient times to the present day. Modern multimedia technologies, interactive solutions, and visual presentation methods made a strong impression on the guests.
The visitors first explored the “Gallery of Great Figures,” where they became acquainted with the lives and contributions of outstanding scholars, thinkers, and statesmen who emerged from Central Asia. The delegation then visited the section dedicated to pre-Islamic civilizations, highly appreciating archaeological findings and cultural heritage artifacts dating back nearly 3,000 years.
Exhibitions devoted to the First Renaissance period also generated particular interest. It was noted that the scientific and educational rise of this era was vividly demonstrated through madrasa models, compositions reflecting the scholarly environment, and interactive displays. Likewise, the exhibits of the Second Renaissance period, featuring scientific instruments, manuscripts, and cultural heritage items, left a deep impression on the guests.
The delegation also explored the “New Uzbekistan – Foundation of the New Renaissance” section, where they received information about the wide-ranging reforms, scientific and educational projects, and cultural initiatives being implemented in the country.
At the end of the visit, the guests toured the Qur’an Hall, one of the most significant parts of the Center. Information about the history, preservation, and scholarly study of the Uthman Mushaf attracted great interest among the delegation. In addition, the modern mapping show depicting the revelation of the Qur’an left a vivid impression on the visitors.
“This grand structure, built in a short period of time, leaves a remarkable impression. It clearly demonstrates how an ancient civilization can develop in harmony with modern technologies and modernization. By deeply studying the processes that began with ancient traditions and evolved through various cultural stages, I have once again become convinced of how fascinating the history of Uzbekistan is, especially the heritage of pre-Islamic and Islamic civilizations. It is a particular pleasure for me that Italian companies took part in the construction of this unique complex. This is undoubtedly of great importance. The detailed and well-structured presentation of each stage in the exhibitions makes this clearly evident. At the same time, many aspects of Islamic civilization — achievements in art, craftsmanship, professions, mathematics, medicine, and astronomy — are presented in an impressive manner. What we have seen shows that many achievements in today’s civilizational development are not accidental, but are rooted in ancient traditions and deep foundations,” said Italy’s Minister of Agriculture, Francesco Lollobrigida.
This visit once again demonstrated the Center’s international significance and confirmed its role as an important platform for strengthening cultural and scientific cooperation between countries.
