24.kg: “The Islamic Civilization Center has opened in Tashkent”

The Kyrgyz outlet 24.kg published a report dedicated to the opening of the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan. It notes that the Center, built in Tashkent, is one of the country’s largest spiritual, educational, and scientific projects, and is regarded as a significant academic and cultural space that comprehensively presents Uzbekistan’s millennia-old history, rich cultural heritage, and contribution to world civilization.

“The Islamic Civilization Center has opened in Tashkent. The opening ceremony was attended by the country’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev,” his press service reported.

According to the head of state, Uzbekistan is welcoming the blessed days of Ramadan in an atmosphere of peace, stability, and social harmony. At the same time, in today’s increasingly complex global environment, the importance of peace and internal stability is being understood more deeply.

The presidential press service emphasized that the Islamic Civilization Center is considered one of the largest spiritual, educational, and scientific projects in the republic. It reflects the three-thousand-year history of the nation, its intellectual potential, cultural depth, and contribution to global civilization. Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that the creation of such a Center represents the aspirations of many generations and is an important step toward preserving, studying, and widely promoting national heritage.

According to him, the country’s policy is fundamentally based on the priority of science and education, as it is precisely through knowledge, enlightenment, and the development of human potential that a strong state and a free society can be built.

The initiative to establish the Islamic Civilization Center was put forward by the President at the 72nd session of the United Nations General Assembly and received support from the international community, especially the Islamic world.

As a result, a major architectural ensemble has been formed near the Hazrati Imam complex in Tashkent, combining national artistic traditions, modern infrastructure, and a comprehensive scientific and cultural concept.

The Islamic Civilization Center occupies an area of nearly 10 hectares, with the total floor space of its buildings reaching almost 50,000 square meters. The complex features extensive exhibition areas dedicated to the pre-Islamic period in the territory of Uzbekistan, the First and Second Renaissances, as well as New Uzbekistan as the foundation of the Third Renaissance. The Center serves as a unified educational space showcasing the country’s ancient history, rich civilizational heritage, and the high cultural and scientific potential of the Uzbek people.

A special place in the complex is occupied by the Qur’an Hall, which is considered the Center’s main spiritual space. It houses one of the world’s oldest copies of the Qur’an — the Uthman Mushaf.

In addition, conditions have been created at the Islamic Civilization Center for the activities of a number of international organizations. These include ICESCO, IRCICA, the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies, the Association for the Study of the History and Art of the Timurid Era, and TURKSOY.
