A new “magnet” in Tashkent: 5,000 visitors a day — the Islamic Civilization Center in the global spotlight

The Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan, which has begun receiving thousands of visitors daily, is now emerging as a new cultural “magnet” attracting foreign delegations, experts, and tourists.

Having started its operations in March this year and established on the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan has quickly gained the attention of the general public and international circles. Today, the Center welcomes an average of more than 5,000 visitors per day, demonstrating its growing popularity. It is highly appreciated not only by ordinary visitors but also by official delegations of various levels.

Within the framework of the international forum “Tashkent Water Week 2026,” more than 100 foreign and local participants visiting the country became closely acquainted with this complex.

The First Renaissance exhibition, in particular, attracted great interest among the guests. The door covering of the Kaaba — known as the kiswah — brought from Saudi Arabia, left a deep impression as a rare exhibit. In addition, the opportunity to see original rare manuscripts preserved at the Center became an unforgettable experience for the delegation members.

The visit of the delegation led by Kim Seok-ki, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, demonstrated the Center’s growing significance in international political circles. They showed great interest in the “Pre-Islamic Period” exhibition of the museum, where they explored models of early cities, trade routes of the Great Silk Road, and scenes dedicated to the ancient horses of Ferghana.

The delegation of the international rating agency Fitch Ratings also highly evaluated the exhibition dedicated to the Timurid era — the Second Renaissance. According to them, the environment created in this section gives visitors the feeling of living in that historical period.

In the opinion of Carlos Villanova Giner, a representative of Société Générale, the Center is not only architecturally magnificent but also highly significant from an educational and cultural perspective. He emphasized that the richness of the exhibitions — including Qur’anic manuscripts, numismatics, ancient clothing, and examples of traditional applied arts — deserves special attention.

Additionally, a delegation of more than 200 employees from the State Security Service of the Republic of Uzbekistan also particularly noted the unique concept created through the integration of historical heritage and modern multimedia technologies.

Today, the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan continues to develop as a unique institution that presents historical heritage in a modern interpretation, uniting science, culture, and innovation.
