“The New Jewel of Tashkent”: The Islamic Civilization Center widely featured in XL Semanal magazine
An article about the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan has been published in the prestigious Spanish magazine XL Semanal, a publication with a weekly circulation of over 1.5 million copies and a readership reaching millions. The piece, titled “La nueva joya de Tashkent” (“The New Jewel of Tashkent”), appears on the magazine’s opening pages (page 7), indicating the high editorial priority given to the topic and reflecting the strong international interest in the authorial project of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, aimed at restoring the country’s historical role as one of the world’s centers of science and culture.
Foreign journalists pay particular attention to the scale of the complex, its architectural expressiveness, and the unique integration of traditional heritage with modern technologies. The article also elaborates on the Center’s essence: its thematic exhibitions cover the pre-Islamic period, the flourishing era of science, and the region’s contemporary development, while innovative multimedia solutions enabling visitors to immerse themselves deeply in a historical environment are described in detail. It is emphasized that the Center is not limited to functioning as a museum, but operates as a comprehensive research and educational platform dedicated to the study, preservation, and promotion of rare manuscripts and cultural heritage.
The foreign press also highlights the Center’s importance as a platform for international cooperation, bringing together scholars, experts, and cultural institutions from various countries. The publication underscores Uzbekistan’s role in preserving and promoting Islamic scholarly heritage, as well as its aspiration to present the region as one of the key intellectual centers in world history. Particular attention is given to unique artifacts such as the Uthman Qur’an and their significance for global cultural heritage.
Considering that more than 60 articles about the Islamic Civilization Center were published in reputable international outlets in March alone, this demonstrates the rapidly growing global interest in the project and its high relevance within the global information space.
