A new “intellectual startup” for youth: JIDU students took part in an unusual experience

06.04.2026, 16:231095

The Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan, located in Tashkent, is today becoming a unique educational platform for youth. The visit of the delegation from the University of World Economy and Diplomacy once again demonstrated that this institution is not only a museum, but also a modern academic school that integrates theoretical knowledge with practical experience.

As part of a special educational course at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED), a delegation consisting of students and faculty members, led by the university’s rector and First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Sodiq Safoyev, visited the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan.

The main purpose of the visit was to familiarize students with the rich scientific and spiritual heritage of Uzbekistan, the role and significance of Islamic civilization in the development of humanity, and to reinforce the theoretical knowledge acquired in the educational process through practical observation.

During the excursion, participants thoroughly explored the Center’s exhibitions, examining unique scientific and historical sources, manuscripts, and artifacts that cover stages of historical development from ancient times to the present day.

As part of the visit, an educational dialogue was organized, during which presentations were delivered by the Center’s Director, Firdavs Abdukhalikov, and the university’s rector, Sodiq Safoyev.

In his speech, Sodiq Safoyev emphasized the strategic and spiritual significance of the Center:

“The establishment of this Center is, above all, the result of the initiative and strategic vision of our Head of State. Here, the centuries-old history of our people and their invaluable contribution to human civilization are vividly presented. For every intellectual, visiting this place is not only a right, but a moral duty. Especially for young people preparing to work in the field of international relations, this place serves as a unique school. There is a saying: ‘Life is the days that remain in memory.’ I am confident that today’s visit will leave an indelible mark on our students. This Center harmoniously reflects our historical memory, national identity, and confidence in the future. At the same time, it serves as the scientific and theoretical foundation of the idea of the Third Renaissance that we aspire to.”

In his remarks, the Center’s Director, Firdavs Abdukhalikov, spoke about the key priorities of the Center’s activities and the opportunities being created for youth:

“One of the most important priorities of the Center is to actively involve young people in scientific and educational processes. This task has been directly assigned to us by our respected President. Today, as participants of the first official seminar held at this Center, you are becoming direct witnesses of a historical process. This place is not only a museum exhibition, but also a platform for international scientific cooperation. In particular, a number of research projects are being implemented in collaboration with prestigious international organizations such as UNESCO, ICESCO, and IRCICA. Expanding this cooperation further and engaging young people in international research and educational programs remains one of our key objectives. Considering that many of the conflicts observed in the world today often stem from ignorance, we must find solutions through enlightenment.”

Participants of the visit noted that the exhibitions and conditions created at the Center left a deep intellectual and emotional impression on them.

Maxinora Amirhamidova, Associate Professor at UWED:

“Seeing the practical manifestation of the knowledge we have studied theoretically has an entirely new impact on human thinking. Here, every exhibit and every hall appears as a unique historical document. It feels as if a person enters into a direct dialogue with the past. This Center serves as an important scientific and spiritual source not only for today, but also for future generations.”

Laylo Toshpulatova, Head of Department at UWED:

“As soon as we heard about this Center, we had a strong desire to visit it. Today, that dream has come true. From the very first steps, a sense of pride in our country’s rich history emerged in our hearts. We have visited many countries and seen numerous museums and research centers. However, we have never encountered a center as comprehensive and conceptually perfect as this one. This place not only presents history, but also broadens the intellectual horizons of young people and encourages them to reflect deeply on their responsibility for the future.”

This visit, by integrating education, science, and enlightenment, played an important practical role in enhancing students’ intellectual potential, strengthening their sense of national identity, and fostering respect for historical heritage.
