An international conference in Tashkent dedicated to the legacy of Amir Temur: A harmony of scholarly dialogue and cultural events

An international scientific conference titled “Amir Temur and the Role and Significance of Timurid Civilization in World History and Culture” is ongoing at the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan on the occasion of the 690th anniversary of the birth of Sahibqiran Amir Temur.
The three-day forum has brought together more than 300 scholars, experts, diplomats, and representatives of the public from over 20 countries, becoming an important platform for in-depth study of the Timurid heritage and discussion of its role in the development of world civilization.
Within the framework of the conference, participants visited the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan and became acquainted with the thematic exhibitions organized there. A screening of the feature film “Amir Temur and Donna Maria” was also held.
During the event, foreign guests shared their impressions of the Center’s activities and exhibitions.
“I am very pleased to be here. The scale and significance of the Center are truly impressive. It brings together a rich history that laid the foundation for the development of Islamic and world civilization. Such centers not only illuminate the past but are also important for the future,” said Farhan Nizami, Chairman of the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies.
He particularly emphasized that the exhibitions dedicated to the Renaissance periods and the legacy of great scholars left a deep impression on him:
“The scientific works of scholars such as al-Khwarizmi and al-Fergani laid the foundation for human progress. Without them, today’s modern achievements would not exist,” he noted.
A participant from the United Kingdom, Siboriya Salikhov, also shared his views on the Center and the film:
“This is my first visit since the museum became fully operational. What we have seen is very impressive. In particular, the presentation in the Qur’an Hall and today’s film left a strong impression. We will certainly visit this place again,” he said.
According to him, such cultural and scientific events play an important role in strengthening dialogue between different civilizations:
“Such centers and forums contribute to understanding universal human values,” he added.
The film “Amir Temur and Donna Maria,” presented within the framework of the conference, was also warmly received by participants. It was especially noted for its modern artistic interpretation of Sahibqiran’s personal qualities and his role as a historical figure.
During the international conference, scholarly discussions continue on the achievements of the Timurid period in the fields of governance, science, culture, architecture, and diplomacy.
This conference plays an important role in promoting Uzbekistan’s rich historical and cultural heritage to the global community, developing international scientific dialogue, and strengthening cooperation between civilizations.
