MIR 24: “The 690th anniversary of Amir Temur’s birth is being widely celebrated in Uzbekistan”
Tashkent, Uzbekistan — Large-scale ceremonial events are being held in Uzbekistan to mark the 690th anniversary of the birth of the great statesman and commander Amir Temur. This was reported by MIR 24 correspondent Vitaliy Nikulin.
On the occasion of the anniversary, spiritual-educational, scientific, and cultural events have been organized across the country. The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, laid a wreath at the foot of the Amir Temur monument in the capital, paying tribute to the memory of the great ancestor.
As part of the celebrations, guests are visiting the renovated State Museum of the History of the Timurids. The Head of State left a commemorative note in the museum’s book of honorary guests.
In addition, the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan, which has become a hub for international events, is today bringing together scholars, researchers, and guests from more than twenty countries. Having recently begun its activities, this modern center has quickly turned into a platform for international scientific dialogue.
The Center’s exhibition covers 15,000 square meters and presents unique artifacts spanning thousands of years of history. Through advanced multimedia solutions — including 3D technologies, high-resolution projections, and spatial sound systems — historical processes are showcased in an interactive format.
A special exhibition is dedicated to Amir Temur and the Timurid Empire, highlighting that its territory stretched from India to the Volga, with its capital in Samarkand.
More than 300 participants — scholars, experts, and diplomats — are taking part in the international scientific conference held within the framework of the anniversary. Prestigious international organizations such as ICESCO, IRCICA, the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies, and the Al-Furqan Foundation are participating in the event.
As noted by Damir Mukhetdinov, Deputy Chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Russia, the gathering of such high-level specialists in one place creates a foundation for new scientific conclusions and discoveries.
At the conclusion of the conference, a number of cooperation memorandums were signed between local and foreign scholars. These agreements will contribute to the study and promotion of Uzbekistan’s rich historical and cultural heritage at the international level.
At the same time, the legacy of Amir Temur is actively discussed on the international stage. In particular, at a scientific forum held in Moscow, his traditions of statehood, military strategy, and role in world culture were highly recognized.
