A center in the global spotlight: The Bavarian minister highly praised the unique project in Tashkent
A meeting was held at the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan, established on the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, between a delegation led by Bavarian State Minister for European Affairs and International Relations Eric Beißwenger of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Director of the Center, Firdavs Abdukhalikov.
During the meeting, issues related to expanding cooperation between representatives of Germany (particularly Bavaria) and the Islamic Civilization Center were discussed. The parties expressed their readiness to develop ties within the framework of museums, scientific institutions, and cultural projects.
Special attention was given to promoting the enlightened and tolerant essence of Islam. In this regard, a proposal was put forward to organize conferences and seminars. It was also noted that organizing joint exhibitions and strengthening social harmony through the exchange of knowledge about culture and religion is of great importance.
Following the meeting, members of the delegation closely ознакомились with the exposition of the Islamic Civilization Center. The interactive monitors installed in the Gallery of Great Figures attracted particular interest among the guests. Through these technologies, visitors appreciated the opportunity to access concise information about great scholars in dozens of languages.
The opportunity to take virtual tours of Uzbekistan’s historical monuments via the monitors also left a strong impression on the guests. In the sections dedicated to the pre-Islamic civilization and the First Renaissance, the ability to physically experience parts of certain artifacts sparked special interest among the delegation members. They noted that such experiences are rare in other museums.
The guests also highly praised the wide display of rare and authentic gold-related artifacts presented at the Center.
Eric Beißwenger, Bavarian State Minister for European Affairs and International Relations:
“I have never seen such a center before. It is extremely modern and presents Islam, as well as your rich culture and traditions, in a clear and accessible way to visitors from all over the world. At the same time, it is commendable that special attention is also given to science.
This place not only attracts young people but also inspires them and encourages new research. In my opinion, its educational significance is extremely high, and such initiatives should only be supported.
This center serves as a strong bridge between our cultures, societies, and states.
We are interested in developing cultural and social exchange and are also ready to support your approaches. We believe it is important to promote Uzbekistan more broadly in Bavaria and in Germany as a whole.
First of all, this center is unique — such a complex does not yet exist. Secondly, its construction in a short period of time and at such a high level of quality deserves special recognition. Thirdly, it is a modern and interactive museum that makes it possible to present thousands of years of history to the wider public in a short time.
In addition, this center plays an important role in opening Uzbekistan to the world and widely showcases the distinctive features of your country.”
