The complex listed in the Guinness World Records: U.S. Embassy staff highly praised the Islamic Civilization Center

20.04.2026, 10:501001

A delegation of staff from the U.S. Embassy visited the Islamic Civilization Center, established at the initiative of Shavkat Mirziyoyev. From the very first moments of entering the Center, the guests emphasized that they were deeply impressed by its exterior appearance, scale, and grandeur. In particular, they noted with admiration that the complex, covering an area of 10 hectares, features a massive 65-meter dome clearly visible even from the center of Tashkent. It was also acknowledged that the Center’s inclusion in the Guinness World Records, specifically due to its size and scale, is indeed well justified.

The tour began with the “Gallery of Great Figures.” The delegation was amazed by the depictions of great scholars from the First and Second Renaissance periods. These handcrafted compositions were recognized as a unique example of the harmony between art and history.

In the pre-Islamic era exhibition, guests explored historical stages from ancient times up to the 8th century CE. Particular attention was drawn to coins from the era of Alexander III and the Kushan Kingdom, reflecting one of the earliest monetary systems of the Greco-Bactrian period.

In the Fergana Civilization section, textile fragments featuring winged horses from the 7th–9th centuries, along with silver and gold dishes and ceramic rider figurines, enriched the delegation’s understanding of the legendary “heavenly horses.” The presentation of trade and daily life of that period through modern technologies also left a vivid impression on the visitors.

Laura Brown, Public Affairs Advisor at the U.S. Embassy, stated:

“The inclusion of the Islamic Civilization Center in the Guinness World Records is a fully deserved recognition. This is an exceptionally grand and content-rich place, and Uzbek civilization holds significant importance not only for this region but for all humanity. This is a major achievement for Uzbekistan, as well as a successful initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Another unique feature of this museum is its interactivity. Here, history truly comes alive: through various modern methods, the life of ancient Uzbekistan and Central Asia, even up to the present day, is presented clearly and vividly. The breadth and depth of the information, along with its dynamic presentation, are truly astonishing.”

In the Second Renaissance section, the palace library exhibition and the representation of construction and scientific development during the era of Amir Temur left a deep impression on the delegation. A copy of the Qur’an transcribed by Umar Aqta, as well as the opportunity to “interact” with Amir Temur and his descendants through interactive technologies, sparked particular interest among the guests. The principles of governance and statehood in Amir Temur’s empire were especially highly appreciated.

Anna Balogh, a staff member of the Cultural Section of the U.S. Embassy in Tashkent, noted:

“I have visited many museums, but I cannot recall a place quite like this Center. It is unlike anything I have ever seen — large-scale, majestic, and incredibly beautiful.

I believe this Center has great educational value for American visitors. By coming here, they gain a deeper understanding of the history of Uzbekistan and Islamic civilization. In this way, they better appreciate how today’s culture is rooted in this rich historical heritage.

In my opinion, the most attractive aspect of this Center lies in every part of it. This is a vast complex, and the marble used in construction, ancient gold artifacts, various models, video materials created using modern computer technologies, and interactive exhibitions — all of these are unique and impactful. Every element amazes the visitor and makes this place an unforgettable experience.”

In the “New Uzbekistan — Foundation of a New Renaissance” section, the guests particularly emphasized that not only the country’s present and future, but also its role in international relations, is extensively highlighted. They also expressed great respect and interest in the book presented by Paolo Zampolli, Special Envoy of the U.S. President, which is displayed at the Center.

At the conclusion of the excursion, the delegation visited one of the most impressive parts of the Center — the Qur’an Hall.

At the end of the visit, the U.S. Embassy staff highly praised the Center as not merely a museum, but as a unique place where history, enlightenment, and modern technologies are harmoniously combined. They particularly emphasized that this complex leaves an unforgettable impression on every visitor.
