The Islamic Civilization Center became an unexpected discovery for the Slovenian delegation
Uzbekistan is increasingly gaining international recognition by harmoniously combining its rich historical heritage with modern development. In this regard, the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan, established at the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, is considered one of the most important institutions showcasing the country’s scientific and educational potential.
A delegation led by Jana Ahčin, President of the Court of Audit of the Republic of Slovenia, visited the Center.
Members of the delegation closely familiarized with all exhibition halls of the Center and highly appreciated them. In particular, the section dedicated to the Second Renaissance period attracted great interest.
The exhibition devoted to the personality of Amir Timur made a special impression on the guests. It should be noted that Amir Timur is often interpreted only as a military commander. However, at the Center, he is presented from a new perspective — as a great statesman, builder, and patron of science and enlightenment. The exhibition features, for the first time, scientific achievements and discoveries from the Timurid era, which drew the attention of the delegation members. It highlights advancements in irrigation, engineering, architecture, book production, science, and Islamic studies of that period.
The section dedicated to Mirzo Ulugbek also left a strong impression. Here, visitors familiarized with a model of the observatory, interactive projects, scientific instruments, period ceramics, and manuscripts.
In addition, the delegation showed particular interest in the economic sector of the “New Uzbekistan — Foundation of a New Renaissance” section. This part presents the country’s economic potential, newly established industrial enterprises, the nuclear power plant complex, modern residential areas, administrative buildings, higher education and healthcare institutions, along with their visual representations. The concept of a future city especially attracted the guests’ attention.
Jana Ahčin, President of the Court of Audit of the Republic of Slovenia:
“This is my first visit to Tashkent, and I am extremely happy to be here. I am also very pleased to visit the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan. This place is so remarkable that it is difficult to fully describe it in words. Various civilizations are gathered in one place, and while it is vast and majestic, it is also organized in a compact manner. In a short time, one can gain a general yet deep understanding of your religion and history.
I heard that the Center has been included in the Guinness Book of Records, and I believe this is a great achievement for the people of Uzbekistan.
Many people visit this place. They gain a deeper understanding of you, your rich culture, Islamic civilization, and the history of Central Asia. In my youth, I read many historical books, and Samarkand was always in my thoughts. The same goes for Tashkent. I always told myself, ‘I will definitely visit Samarkand and Tashkent.’ It was at the top of my list of dreams.
Now that dream has come true. I sincerely thank the people of Uzbekistan for giving me such an opportunity.”
