Major projects are being implemented in the printing industry

As part of the foreign visit program of the delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, a visit was made to one of Europe’s leading publishing houses — Mueller & Schindler — with the participation of Advisor to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and People’s Writer of Uzbekistan Khayriddin Sultanov, Director of the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan and Chairman of the Board of the WOSCU World Society Firdavs Abdukhalikov, Director of the State Museum of Temurid History Khurshid Fayziyev, and WOSCU Coordinator Ekaterina Soboleva.

Within the framework of the visit, a meaningful meeting was held with the publishing house’s President Charlotte Kramer, Vice President Alexander Wilhelm, and company specialists. The meeting coincided with International Book Day, giving the dialogue special significance and symbolic meaning.

During the discussion, particular emphasis was placed on a number of prestigious facsimile projects implemented by Mueller & Schindler in cooperation with WOSCU since 2017. These projects have received high international recognition.

Among them are facsimile editions of rare works such as the “Divan of Husayn Bayqara,” the “Zafarnama” featuring miniatures by Kamoliddin Behzod, the Katta Langar Quran, “Temur Tuzuklari,” and “Me’rojnoma.” These projects serve to reproduce valuable manuscripts preserved in museums and libraries around the world as close as possible to their original form and introduce them into scholarly and cultural circulation.

In her speech, President of the publishing house Charlotte Kramer stated:

“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for the large-scale and systematic efforts being carried out in this field. Such attention to culture at the level of state leadership is rare in the world and can serve as an example for others. Throughout our many years of cooperation, we have personally witnessed the depth of the reforms being implemented.”

Advisor to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Khayriddin Sultanov, in turn, expressed gratitude to the partners and highly appreciated their contribution to promoting Uzbek culture internationally, recognizing the publishing house representatives as reliable partners.

During the meeting, new facsimile editions were presented, future joint projects were discussed, and views were exchanged on promoting Uzbekistan’s rich historical and cultural legacy on the international stage.

The major international project titled “114 Qurans” was also at the center of discussions. This initiative is being implemented jointly by the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan and WOSCU. The project aims to compile the finest examples of Quranic calligraphy and decorative art into a single volume. Leading international specialists — Quran scholars, art historians, and restorers — are participating in the project. As a result, it is planned to prepare a high-quality publication enriched with scholarly commentary and featuring the world’s 114 rarest Quran manuscripts connected with the history of Uzbekistan.

In addition, the tourism book project “Uzbekistan: The Golden Road to Samarkand” was discussed. This initiative aims to enrich international understanding of Uzbekistan by extensively showcasing the country’s regions, rich architectural heritage, historic cities, natural landscapes, and contemporary cultural environment.

While discussing prospects for cooperation, Khayriddin Sultanov put forward an initiative to publish “Temur Tuzuklari” in Spanish. This work is considered an important historical source reflecting the system of governance, political principles, and strategic thinking of the Timurid state.

As noted during the meeting, implementing this project would bring the Timurid heritage closer to Spanish-speaking readers, provide new impetus for scholarly research, and strengthen cultural ties between Uzbekistan and Spanish-speaking countries.

Mueller & Schindler Publishing House supported the initiative and highly praised its scholarly and cultural significance. It was emphasized that the Spanish edition of “Temur Tuzuklari” would play an important role in providing European readers with a broader understanding of the Timurid state and its legal foundations.

This visit became an important step toward further developing international publishing and cultural cooperation, once again confirming the growing global interest in Uzbekistan’s rich historical and cultural legacy.
