An unconventional presentation of 3,000 years of history and nearly 3,000 unique artifacts: An initiative that amazed the Pakistani delegation

28.04.2026, 18:441174

Formed on the basis of more than 800 scientific projects and housing nearly 3,000 unique artifacts, the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan is today emerging as an international scientific and cultural hub. A delegation led by Sahibzada Sultan Ahmad Ali, head of the MUSLIM Institute (research and analytical center) of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, visited the Center to familiarized closely with its exhibitions.

The Pakistani guests were deeply impressed by the Center’s entrance foyer, the “Great Figures Gallery.” Through 14 arches, the rich history of the country, as well as the lives of great scholars and historical figures, are depicted in artistic form. These compositions attracted particular attention for being created by hand using 110 different colors of micro-mosaic stones.

In the museum’s exhibitions dedicated to the First Renaissance period, seven thematic capsules provided visitors with detailed information through video presentations, manuscripts, historical artifacts, as well as models and replicas reflecting the scientific and spiritual environment of that era. These solutions were highly praised as effective examples of presenting scientific heritage in a modern interpretation. In particular, the first capsule features information on the spread of Islam, video materials and interactive texts, copies of letters sent by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) to world rulers, an image of the Kaaba and embroidered textiles with sacred supplications, as well as manuscript pages of the Qur’an dating back to the 9th–11th centuries.

The third capsule is dedicated to the legacy of the Ma’mun Academy and great scholars such as Ibn Sina and Abu Rayhan Beruni. The period in which Beruni lived has been referred to by world scholars as the “Age of Beruni,” a recognition frequently emphasized by Frederick Starr. Among the exhibits are Beruni’s works “Tafhim” and “Osor ul-boqiya,” a facsimile edition of the 14th-century Hebrew translation of Ibn Sina’s “Canon of Medicine,” as well as a copy of “Kitab al-Shifa” transcribed in Herat in 1494.

Sahibzada Sultan Ahmad Ali, Head of the MUSLIM Institute:

“I am truly honored to have visited the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan. First of all, the extensive and effective use of modern technologies immediately captures attention. The visual presentations created here are of a highly professional standard and impress with their advanced technological execution.

The materials presented here are extremely rich, historically accurate, and systematically organized. In particular, this place offers a unique opportunity for those who wish to convey the golden age of Islam and the legacy of great scholars to their children in a vivid and impactful way.

Undoubtedly, the Center serves as an important scientific resource for scholars and researchers. At the same time, it is not only a repository of historical knowledge, but also a powerful source of spiritual enrichment.

In various sections, the legacy of such great figures as Imam Maturidi, Imam Bukhari, Imam Tirmidhi, Ibn Sina, and Abu Rayhan Beruni is thoroughly presented. This is a remarkable example of preserving history and conveying it to future generations through modern methods.

Most notably, people of different ages visit this place — and in all of them, one can observe the same sense of spiritual uplift and thirst for knowledge.

I express my deep gratitude to the Government of Uzbekistan and to Shavkat Mirziyoyev for this grand initiative. It is undoubtedly a project worthy of high recognition.

This visit has been one of the most unforgettable days of my life. In a short time, I tried to gain as much knowledge as possible.”
