Mauro Vieira, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Brazil, visited the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan.

Mauro Vieira, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federative Republic of Brazil, visited the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan as part of his official visit to Uzbekistan.

During the visit, the distinguished guest was introduced to the Center’s rich exhibitions, rare historical artifacts, and state-of-the-art interactive installations.

Mauro Vieira emphasized that this was his first visit to Uzbekistan as Brazil’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and noted that it was also the first official visit to the country by a Brazilian foreign minister in history, making the occasion particularly significant.

“Being here today is a great pleasure and a profound honor for me. The Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan, located in Tashkent, has left a very strong impression on me. It is truly a unique and remarkable institution. Seeing such a magnificent building and a center of such great importance is a real privilege. The Center not only showcases the rich heritage of Islamic civilization, but also vividly reflects Uzbekistan’s important place in world civilization,” said the Brazilian Foreign Minister.

The guest began his tour with the Samarkand Portal, the Center’s main entrance, which was designed in the style of the decorative elements of the Ulugh Beg Madrasah, part of the Registan ensemble.

In the foyer, fourteen semi-oval arches depict Uzbekistan’s rich history and the lives of great scholars and statesmen through the art of micro-mosaic. Created in collaboration with Chinese specialists using 110 different colors of stone, these frescoes portray prominent figures of the First and Second Renaissances, including Muhammad al-Khwarizmi, Ahmad al-Fargani, Imam al-Bukhari, Imam al-Tirmidhi, Avicenna, Abu Rayhan al-Biruni, Jaloliddin Manguberdi, Amir Temur, Mirzo Ulugbek, Alisher Navoi, and Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur, as well as Jadid reformers.

During the visit, the Minister also explored the section dedicated to pre-Islamic civilizations, an interactive map of the Great Silk Road, and exhibitions on ancient Fergana and its famous “heavenly horses.”

In the Hall of the First Renaissance, he was introduced to a replica of the door of the Holy Kaaba, an original covering of the Kaaba used in 1988, Kaaba keys from the Mamluk period of Egypt, and a fragment of the Kiswah presented to the President of Uzbekistan by Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

In the Second Renaissance section, Mauro Vieira viewed an interactive representation of Mirzo Ulugbek created using artificial intelligence technologies. He also examined a model of the Ulugbek Observatory, astronomical instruments, manuscripts, and examples of traditional ceramics.

The guest was also presented with the exhibition “New Uzbekistan – The Foundation of the New Renaissance,” which highlights the large-scale reforms carried out in recent years under the leadership of Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as well as the country’s achievements in foreign policy and key priorities in international cooperation. In particular, the “Foreign Policy” section, featuring interactive materials dedicated to the President’s foreign visits and meetings with world leaders, drew considerable interest.

As part of the visit, the Brazilian Foreign Minister also toured the Qur’an Hall.

At the conclusion of the visit, Mauro Vieira left a message in the Center’s Book of Honored Guests.
