A spiritual and educational dialogue honoring knowledge, enlightenment, and human dignity was held with visually impaired youth

An event aimed at bringing together members of the scholarly community on a scientific and educational platform and ensuring equal opportunities in access to services was held at the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan. Organized in cooperation with the Tashkent City Center for Visually Impaired Youth, the latest spiritual and educational event entitled “The names of our ancestors are forever in our memory” became a meaningful platform for dialogue celebrating knowledge, enlightenment, and human dignity.

Participants were introduced to the modern infrastructure of the Center’s library, including facilities created for independent study and academic research, collaborative and individual workspaces, research rooms, and specially designated areas for seminars and presentations. They particularly noted that the Center is not merely a museum, but also a major intellectual and scientific platform.

The special facilities created for visually impaired users made a particularly strong impression on the guests. Acoustic booths, a research environment equipped with digital technologies, audiobooks, video books, literature in Braille, and specialized computer software were highly praised by the participants.

Speaking at the event, Olmaskhon Toshkhojayeva, Head of the Tashkent City Department of the Society of the Blind of Uzbekistan, emphasized that human dignity has been elevated to the level of state policy in the country.

“As representatives of the Society of the Blind of Uzbekistan, we have participated as members of the public in monitoring the construction of the Center since its earliest stages. What brings us great joy is that today, special attention is being paid to accessibility for persons with disabilities in the construction of every facility. Seeing the conditions created at the Center filled our hearts with pride. We felt like happy citizens and fulfilled individuals.

People like us navigate the world primarily through hearing, perception, and the feelings of the heart. Therefore, the sincere attitude of those who serve us, the kindness with which they speak, and their ability to understand our needs and guide us appropriately are extremely important. We have visited the Center several times, and each time we have felt the care, attention, and inclusive conditions created for persons with disabilities. This is not only a magnificent complex, but also an important institution that inspires people toward knowledge and enlightenment and widely promotes the history and cultural heritage of our nation,” she noted.

Another important part of the event was a series of lectures dedicated to the Jadid movement and the ideas of national awakening. Participants received detailed information about the selfless contributions of the Jadids to science, education, and progress.

In addition, portraits of prominent Jadid figures prepared by the Tashkent City Center for Visually Impaired Youth were ceremonially donated to the Center’s library collection. Produced in both Braille and embossed print formats, these portraits added special spiritual significance to the event.

A Braille edition of the book Qor qo‘ynidagi lolalar (“Tulips beneath the snow”), dedicated to women in the Jadid movement, was also presented as a gift to the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan.

At the conclusion of the event, guests toured the museum exhibitions of the Center. During the visit, participants highly praised the displays, which vividly present the rich history, scholarly and spiritual heritage, and civilizational development of the Uzbek people through modern technologies.

At the end of the event, participants expressed their appreciation for the efforts being undertaken under the leadership of the Head of State to support persons with disabilities and to expand their opportunities to pursue education and enlightenment in Uzbekistan.
