TASHKENT IS EMERGING AS A NEW CULTURAL CENTER OF ISLAMIC CIVILIZATION
International media continue to highly praise Uzbekistan’s rich history and cultural heritage. In an article titled “Exploring Tashkent, the design capital of Uzbekistan,” published by India’s prestigious magazine The Week, Tashkent is recognized not only as a city of design and architecture, but also as one of the important centers of Islamic civilization.
The article places special emphasis on the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan. The author describes the complex as “a unique place that reveals the world of Islam through history, science, art, and spirituality.” Built adjacent to the Hazrati Imam Complex and covering an area of 10 hectares, the Center was officially inaugurated in March 2026.
The complex makes a profound impression on visitors with its 65-meter-high turquoise dome and its majestic portals adorned with verses from the Qur’an and Hadiths. It embodies the spiritual heritage of such ancient centers of learning as Samarkand, Bukhara, Khorezm, and Kokand.
The Center’s exhibitions feature rare Qur’anic manuscripts, examples of calligraphy, miniatures, ceramics, and unique artifacts that had been preserved abroad for centuries. In addition, the contributions of Islamic civilization to the development of science — including achievements in astronomy, medicine, mathematics, and philosophy — are presented using advanced museum technologies.
According to international experts and tourists, the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan is becoming not only a cultural brand of the country, but also a major international platform promoting the scholarly and educational heritage of the entire Muslim world.
