An exhibition titled “Enlightenment against ignorance” was organized at the unique library in our country
An exhibition titled “Enlightenment against ignorance” was organized at the unique library of the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan. Held in the Center’s modern library, the event aimed to promote science, reading culture, national and universal values among the younger generation, while also advancing the idea of combating ignorance through enlightenment and education.
The exhibition brought together students and young participants, including more than 250 schoolchildren from over 15 countries taking part in the Al-Khwarizmi International Mathematics and Informatics Olympiad. They were first introduced to the activities of the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan, its educational and research initiatives, unique exhibitions, and materials reflecting the rich historical and cultural heritage of the Uzbek people.
Participants then had the opportunity to explore hundreds of books displayed in the Center’s library, covering topics such as spiritual and educational development, the history of Islamic civilization, religious tolerance, enlightenment, cultural heritage, and science. Special attention was given to fostering a culture of reading among young people, increasing their interest in knowledge and learning, and strengthening their intellectual and spiritual resilience.
One of the most notable aspects of the event was the participation of visitors from Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Mongolia, Türkiye, and Malaysia. They became acquainted with the Center’s modern library, extensive book collection, electronic resources, digital databases, and the research-friendly environment created for scholars. Guests also learned about various educational initiatives aimed at supporting and engaging young people.
According to Ravshan Qodirov, Head of the Center’s library, such events play an important role in bringing young people closer to books, knowledge, and enlightenment.
“During today’s exhibition, participants familiarized themselves with our rich collection of books, modern technological facilities, and electronic resources. They were also informed about the opportunities and conditions created for young people through the initiatives of our country’s leadership. Many visitors expressed a desire to become members of our library and to visit again. We intend to continue organizing such educational events on a regular basis,” he said.
Foreign guests also shared positive impressions of the Center and its library.
According to Malaysian participant Esen bin Dafis Madi, his visit to the Islamic Civilization Center left a profound impression on him.
“As a Muslim, learning about the history of our religion and its rich heritage is extremely fascinating. This place is truly remarkable. Through its exhibitions, we gained extensive knowledge about history, culture, and civilization. The library is among the most modern I have ever seen. I was particularly impressed by its digital technologies and electronic resources,” he noted.
Experts emphasize that the exhibition plays a significant role in promoting reading culture among young people, strengthening historical awareness and spiritual resilience, and enriching the practical implementation of the concept of “Enlightenment against ignorance”.
