The Islamic Civilization Center is becoming the educational heart of the third renaissance
Although the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan was officially opened only recently, the number of visitors continues to grow day by day. The Center is attracting great interest not only from local residents but also from international guests.
According to available data, as of June 1, more than half a million local and foreign visitors had visited the Center. It should be noted that the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan is far more than just a museum. It is a modern platform that integrates scientific, educational, and religious activities while carrying out a wide range of initiatives. In 2017, during the 72nd Session of the United Nations General Assembly, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, emphasized that the primary goal of establishing this major project was to preserve and study the rich scholarly and spiritual heritage of our great ancestors and to widely promote the teachings of eminent scholars such as Imam al-Bukhari, who advocated enlightened Islam. Nine years later, this noble vision proposed by the Head of State is clearly demonstrating its practical results.
As part of the “Tamaddun” joint program, implemented under the motto “One Institution – One Consultation – One Result – One Future” in cooperation with partner research centers operating across the country, the Center hosted a scientific and practical seminar attended by the leadership of the Institute for Advanced Training and Retraining in the Religious and Educational Sphere under the Committee on Religious Affairs, as well as imam-khatibs from various regions of the republic. The seminar became an integral part of these ongoing efforts. During the event, specialists exchanged views on improving the quality of educational activities, introducing modern teaching methods, and further enhancing the capacity of personnel working in the religious and educational sector.
“Within the framework of the scientific and practical seminar, we visited the Center and witnessed how the historical processes that have taken place in the territory of Uzbekistan from ancient times to the present day are presented through modern methods. Through photographs, video materials, and other exhibits, we once again realized the richness of our nation’s history and culture. The Center’s library, in particular, left a profound impression on us. Alongside religious literature, it houses a vast collection of scholarly resources covering various fields. I believe such opportunities are extremely important for students and seekers of knowledge. Therefore, we sincerely express our gratitude to our state leaders, officials responsible for the religious sphere, and everyone who contributed to the establishment and development of this Center,” said Farhodbek Qodirov, Deputy Imam of the “Sulaymonbek” Jome Mosque in Shahrixon District, Andijan Region.
“The purpose of organizing our seminar at the Islamic Civilization Center was to experience and draw inspiration from the academic atmosphere of a place where the foundations of the Third Renaissance are being laid. The participants of the seminar, especially our imam-khatibs, gained new ideas, motivation, and spiritual inspiration here. By familiarizing ourselves with the library and its scholarly resources, we felt an even greater responsibility to conduct research, expand our knowledge, and share enlightenment with our people. We intend to contribute to the development of the Third Renaissance.
During the seminar, discussions focused on the recitation of the Holy Qur’an, a deeper understanding of its meanings, and the proper dissemination of this knowledge among the public. It was also emphasized that the teachings of the Qur’an should be explained in harmony with the demands and realities of the modern era. Through the sources and exhibits presented at the Center, we once again witnessed that the first command of Islam was ‘Iqra’—‘Read’, and that our ancestors achieved remarkable success in both religious and secular sciences by following this command. The Qur’an Hall, the Uthman Mushaf, rare manuscripts, and the legacy of our great scholars vividly demonstrate the immense attention devoted to Islamic sciences. Every visitor who comes here can see this with their own eyes and leave with a deep impression,” said Farzandiddin Samarqandiy Nizomov, Lecturer at the Department of Qur’anic Sciences of the Tashkent Islamic Institute named after Imam al-Bukhari.
