Hong Kong leader explores the new jewel of the East

A delegation of more than 30 guests led by John Lee Ka-chiu, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China, visited the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan, which has become the country’s new hallmark.

During the visit, the guests were provided with detailed information about the Center’s scientific and educational activities, its main exhibitions, and projects reflecting Uzbekistan’s centuries-old history and rich cultural heritage. The Center is widely regarded as a new jewel of the East.

Members of the delegation explored the ancient civilizations that flourished in the territory of present-day Uzbekistan, the contributions of great scholars to the advancement of science and enlightenment, and initiatives aimed at preserving and promoting the nation’s cultural heritage.

The visitors showed particular interest in the modern interactive technologies used in the Center’s exhibitions, including digitized manuscripts, multimedia solutions, and innovative methods of presenting historical sources. Representatives of the delegation emphasized that such an approach plays an important role in making historical heritage accessible to a broad audience, especially younger generations, through contemporary formats.

During discussions held as part of the visit, the parties exchanged views on expanding cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sphere, studying historical and cultural heritage, and implementing promising projects aimed at promoting it internationally.

As noted during the visit, the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan is not merely a museum and exhibition complex, but a modern scientific and educational platform that contributes to the development of science, enlightenment, cultural diplomacy, and international cooperation.

At the conclusion of the visit, Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu left his impressions and the following message in the Center’s Book of Honored Guests:

“This Center represents not only a remarkable achievement for Uzbekistan but also a significant contribution to Islamic civilization — an invaluable heritage that has shaped the course of humanity’s development. I once again extend my congratulations on this great accomplishment. May this heritage continue to inspire stronger friendship between our peoples and further deepen our close ties and cooperation”.
