At a time when the ideas of intercultural dialogue, tolerance, and enlightenment are becoming increasingly important across the world, Uzbekistan is being recognized as an active participant in this process. Remarks made during the visit of a delegation from the Parliament of the Republic of Serbia to the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan demonstrated that the country is steadily emerging as one of the world’s important educational and humanitarian platforms.

A delegation led by A. Marković, Chair of the Serbia–Uzbekistan Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Group in the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, visited the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan.

During the visit, the guests explored the Center’s exhibitions and received detailed information about its rich scientific, spiritual, and cultural content. Members of the delegation highly appreciated the way historical heritage is presented through modern technologies, as well as the logical coherence connecting the various exhibitions.

The section dedicated to pre-Islamic civilizations was among the exhibitions that attracted particular interest. Through the displayed examples of Bactrian jewelry art, the visitors gained a deeper understanding of the refined culture, aesthetics, and craftsmanship traditions that had flourished in Central Asia since ancient times.

As members of the delegation noted, each exhibition at the Center presents not merely an individual historical episode but a comprehensive and interconnected picture of the development of human civilization.

Sharing her impressions of the visit, Serbian National Assembly member Olivera Denić described the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan as an important international platform for dialogue among civilizations.

“We arrived here with great expectations, and what we witnessed exceeded them. This Center clearly demonstrates that it is possible not only to preserve civilizations and traditions but also to harmonize them with modern development. It is an important spiritual and cultural platform not only for Uzbekistan but for the entire region,” she said.

During the visit, the guests also toured the “New Uzbekistan – The Foundation of the New Renaissance” section. Through this exhibition, they were introduced to the country’s large-scale reforms, economic growth, modernization processes, and open foreign policy.

The Serbian delegation particularly emphasized that Uzbekistan’s openness to international cooperation and its policies based on tolerance and mutual respect are important factors contributing to sustainable development in the region.

At the conclusion of the visit, the delegation members described the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan not only as a unique museum complex dedicated to preserving and promoting historical heritage, but also as an important educational institution that fosters dialogue among peoples and civilizations while strengthening mutual understanding and friendship.

In their view, the international significance of the Center continues to grow year by year, and initiatives of this kind play an important role in further strengthening global cultural cooperation.
