A delegation led by Odile Renaud-Basso, President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, visited the Islamic Civilization Center to familiarize themselves with its exhibitions and activities

High-level visits to Uzbekistan continue to demonstrate that the country's development is measured not only by economic indicators but also by its commitment to human capital, science, education, and cultural heritage.

As part of the Fifth Tashkent International Investment Forum, a delegation led by Odile Renaud-Basso, President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), visited the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan.

During the visit, the delegation explored how the Center presents historical heritage through cutting-edge technologies. The tour of the exhibitions traced Uzbekistan’s historical journey from the era of Amir Timur and the Timurids to the country's role in the international arena as New Uzbekistan.

Odile Renaud-Basso was particularly impressed by the rare suzanis, the interactive model of Mirzo Ulugh Beg’s observatory, and the Center’s innovative digital museum solutions. These exhibits demonstrated that the Center not only preserves and displays the legacy of the past but also reinterprets it through modern technologies.

At the conclusion of the visit, the Center’s Director, Firdavs Abdukhalikov, presented Odile Renaud-Basso with a special commemorative book dedicated to the theme of the Third Renaissance. The publication highlights the achievements of Uzbekistan’s great scholars, the country's contribution to the advancement of science and enlightenment, and the far-reaching reforms being implemented during the era of New Uzbekistan.

Sharing her impressions of the Center, Odile Renaud-Basso said:

"This Center is a truly remarkable place where the country’s rich past is harmoniously combined with a modern vision for the future. It helps visitors appreciate Uzbekistan's historic role along the Great Silk Road, connecting East and West. What impressed me most was the way historical heritage has been integrated with innovative technologies and artificial intelligence. Here, a living dialogue has been created between the past and the present. I see this Center as a vivid reflection of both the strength of the past and the immense potential of Uzbekistan's future. I sincerely thank President Shavkat Mirziyoyev for this outstanding initiative."

The guest also left a message in the Center’s Book of Honored Guests. She described the museum as an extraordinary place, noting that it offered a unique journey through Uzbekistan's rich history — from ancient civilizations and the two Renaissance periods to modern-day Uzbekistan. She also wrote that the combination of ancient artifacts, jewelry, carpets, and manuscripts with advanced technologies and artificial intelligence, creating new opportunities for younger generations, left a profound impression on her.
