First International Islamic Forum: Uzbekistan is emerging as a global hub for scientific and educational dialogue

The initiatives put forward by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, to promote the true humanistic essence of Islam and its messages of peace, tolerance, and enlightenment on the international stage are yielding tangible results. As a continuation of these efforts, the First International Islamic Forum, under the theme “Islamic Civilization: The Path of Peace, Tolerance and Enlightenment,” will be held from 7 to 11 July 2026 in Tashkent, Samarkand, and Termez.

The prestigious forum will bring together renowned scholars, religious leaders, researchers, statesmen, public figures, and representatives of international organizations from around the world to exchange views on the contribution of Islamic civilization to global development, the scholarly legacy of great Muslim thinkers, and its relevance in the modern era. The main events of the forum will take place on 7–8 July at the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan, followed by international conferences in Samarkand and Termez dedicated to the legacies of Imam Bukhari, Imam Maturidi, and Imam Tirmidhi.

According to Mehrojiddin Amonov, Senior Research Fellow at the Imam Bukhari International Scientific-Research Center, the forum is expected to become one of the most significant international academic gatherings, distinguished by both its prestige and scholarly importance. He noted that more than 300 scholars and religious experts from various countries are expected to participate in the forum, while over 100 specialists will attend the international conference in Samarkand devoted to the scholarly heritage of Imam Bukhari. He also emphasized that the outcomes of the forum will provide fresh momentum for the global study, translation, and promotion of Imam Bukhari’s works, while making a particularly valuable contribution to the education and moral upbringing of younger generations.
