Participants of the First International Islamic Civilization Forum put forward 10 global initiatives

08.07.2026, 14:47820

Participants of the First International Islamic Civilization Forum, currently taking place in Tashkent, have proposed 10 global initiatives aimed at studying, preserving, digitizing, and promoting the heritage of Islamic civilization worldwide. The proposals include the establishment of a World Forum on Islamic Civilization, an international digital registry, a global digital library, an international award, a research foundation, an alliance of museums, and the development of an international Roadmap through 2030.

At the Forum, participants introduced these major global initiatives to strengthen international efforts in the study, preservation, and promotion of Islamic civilization. The proposals are intended to highlight the significant contribution of Islamic civilization to global science, culture, education, and intellectual heritage while ensuring its preservation for future generations.

The first initiative proposes the establishment of a World Forum on Islamic Civilization under the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan. The platform is envisioned to bring together international organizations, scholars, academic institutions, museums, libraries, archives, manuscript centers, research institutes, and other relevant organizations.

The proposed World Forum, or alliance, is expected to promote long-term international cooperation, facilitate joint scientific, educational, cultural, museum, and digital projects, and encourage the exchange of knowledge and best practices.

The second initiative calls for the creation of a World Digital Registry of Islamic Civilization Heritage, bringing together manuscripts, archival documents, museum collections, architectural monuments, elements of intangible cultural heritage, and research findings within a unified international digital system.

The third initiative proposes the implementation of the international program “The Heritage of Islamic Civilization — The Heritage of All Humanity.” The program will encompass international exhibitions, educational projects, scientific conferences, publishing initiatives, and cultural events.

Forum participants also proposed the establishment of the International Islamic Civilization Award to recognize individuals and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to the study, preservation, and promotion of the heritage of Islamic civilization, as well as to the advancement of science, education, intercultural dialogue, and humanitarian cooperation.

The fifth initiative calls for the establishment of the International Foundation for Islamic Civilization Research. The foundation is expected to support fundamental research, the restoration of historical monuments, the training of young scholars, publishing initiatives, and the expansion of international academic cooperation.

The sixth initiative proposes the creation of a Global Digital Library of Islamic Civilization. This multilingual platform is envisioned to integrate manuscripts, scholarly works, archival documents, museum collections, educational resources, and digital exhibitions into a single comprehensive digital repository.

The seventh initiative focuses on the preparation of the International Encyclopedia of Islamic Civilization. This comprehensive multi-volume scholarly publication is planned to provide extensive coverage of the history of Islamic civilization, its great scholars, schools of thought, cultural monuments, and the major achievements of the Islamic world.

The eighth initiative proposes the introduction of an Annual International Analytical Report on the State of Islamic Civilization Heritage. The report will assess the condition of cultural heritage sites, present the findings of scientific research, examine existing challenges, and analyze prospects for international cooperation.

The ninth initiative calls for the establishment of an International Youth Forum on Islamic Civilization. This platform is intended to bring together young scholars, researchers, students, and cultural heritage professionals, contributing to the development of the next generation of experts in the field.

The tenth initiative proposes the establishment of the International Alliance of Museums of Islamic Culture, Art, and Civilization. The alliance aims to strengthen cooperation among leading museums, museum complexes, galleries, and specialized institutions across different countries.

The proposed alliance will facilitate joint exhibitions, collaborative research, restoration projects, educational and digital initiatives, as well as the exchange of collections, best practices, and professional expertise.

Within the framework of the Forum, the International Forum Council was elected to serve as the permanent coordinating body. It will be responsible for consolidating the initiatives and proposals put forward by Forum participants and for preparing and approving an international Roadmap through 2030 outlining joint actions for their implementation.

The Roadmap is intended to serve as the practical mechanism for implementing the initiatives set out in the Declaration and will be presented to Forum participants, international organizations, and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Forum participants called upon governments, international organizations, academic institutions, higher education institutions, museums, libraries, and civil society organizations to cooperate in implementing these initiatives.

It was emphasized that these initiatives will contribute to strengthening peace, mutual respect, education, and intercultural dialogue, while preserving and promoting the rich heritage of Islamic civilization as an integral part of the world's cultural heritage.
