“Infora News”: Uzbekistan is transforming the heritage of Islamic Civilization into a platform for international dialogue
According to Infora News, the First International Islamic Civilization Forum, held under the theme “The Path of Peace, Tolerance and Enlightenment,” has officially commenced in Tashkent, bringing together nearly 300 scholars, statesmen, religious leaders, and heads of international organizations from more than 40 countries. The publication describes the Forum as a prestigious platform for dialogue dedicated to the study of the rich intellectual and spiritual heritage of Islamic civilization, the preservation and digitization of cultural heritage, and the expansion of international academic cooperation.
The First International Islamic Civilization Forum officially opened at the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan. Taking place from 7–11 July, the Forum is being held in Tashkent, Samarkand, and Termez. It is organized by the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan in cooperation with the Committee on Religious Affairs, the Imam Maturidi, Imam Bukhari, and Imam Tirmidhi International Scientific Research Centers, the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan, the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan, and the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO).
The opening ceremony has brought together nearly 300 international participants from more than 50 countries, including heads of international organizations, government and public officials, ministers, muftis, academics, scholars of Islamic studies, experts in manuscript heritage, and representatives of museums, libraries, and the media.
Khayriddin Sultanov, Adviser to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, delivered a congratulatory message from President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Forum participants.
Among the distinguished participants are ICESCO Director-General Salim AlMalik, IRCICA Director-General Mahmud Erol Kılıç, TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev, President of the International Turkic Academy Shahin Mustafayev, as well as representatives of international organizations, academic institutions, and religious leaders from Uzbekistan and abroad.
The Forum agenda includes discussions on the history of Islamic civilization, Hadith studies, Islamic theology (kalam), manuscript heritage, archaeology, museology, cultural heritage preservation, digitization, cultural diplomacy, and the spiritual and educational reforms being implemented in New Uzbekistan.
The program also features presentations of new scholarly publications and joint projects prepared in cooperation with ICESCO, IRCICA, and other international partners. In addition, the signing of memorandums and agreements aimed at expanding international academic and cultural cooperation is planned.
One of the Forum’s key components will be the international scientific conferences in Samarkand and Termez, dedicated to the legacies of Imam Bukhari, Imam Maturidi, and Imam Tirmidhi. These conferences will bring together scholars to discuss Hadith studies, Islamic thought, manuscript studies, and the preservation of cultural heritage in depth.
