10.07.2026, 11:23875

One of Egypt’s leading news outlets, Youm7, reported that the Declaration adopted at the conclusion of the First International Islamic Civilization Forum in Tashkent introduced a series of major international initiatives aimed at preserving, studying, and promoting the heritage of Islamic civilization. According to the publication, the forum’s key outcomes include the establishment of the World Alliance of Islamic Civilization, headquartered at the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan, the creation of a unified Global Digital Registry and Digital Library, the establishment of an international award and research fund, and the development of an international cooperation roadmap through 2030.

The Declaration adopted at the conclusion of the First International Islamic Civilization Forum in Tashkent emphasized the growing importance of the scholarly study of religious and cultural heritage in strengthening international trust and supporting sustainable development.

According to the forum’s press service, participants recognized the historical role of Uzbekistan and the broader region of Mawarannahr in the emergence and development of Islamic and world civilization.

During the forum, a set of global initiatives under the First International Islamic Civilization Forum was officially announced with the aim of establishing a new framework for international cooperation in the study, preservation, and promotion of the heritage of Islamic civilization.

Among these initiatives is the establishment of the World Alliance of Islamic Civilization, which will be headquartered at the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan. The Alliance is intended to bring together the efforts of international organizations, academic and research institutions, museums, libraries, archives, manuscript centers, research institutes, and other relevant organizations.

The Alliance also aims to foster long-term international cooperation, implement joint research, educational, cultural, museum, and digital projects, facilitate the exchange of knowledge and best practices, and preserve, study, and promote the creative legacy of Islamic civilization as an integral part of humanity’s shared cultural and intellectual heritage.

The participants also endorsed the initiative to establish the Global Digital Registry of Islamic Civilization Heritage. The project envisions the creation of a unified international digital platform integrating manuscripts, archival materials, museum collections, architectural monuments, intangible cultural heritage, and the findings of scholarly research.

As the fourth global initiative, forum participants approved the international program “Islamic Civilization: A Heritage of All Humanity.” The program aims to showcase the contributions of Islamic civilization to science, culture, and education through international exhibitions, educational projects, academic conferences, publications, and cultural events.

The Tashkent Declaration also announced the establishment of the International Islamic Civilization Award to recognize outstanding contributions to the study, preservation, and promotion of the heritage of Islamic civilization, as well as achievements in science, education, intercultural dialogue, and humanitarian cooperation.

In addition, participants approved the establishment of the International Islamic Civilization Research Fund to support fundamental academic research, the restoration of historical monuments, the training of young researchers, the development of publishing initiatives, and the strengthening of international academic cooperation.

The forum also adopted a decision to establish the Global Digital Library of Islamic Civilization, a multilingual platform encompassing manuscripts, scholarly works, archival documents, museum collections, educational resources, and digital exhibitions.

Participants further endorsed the initiative to compile a multi-volume International Encyclopedia of Islamic Civilization, dedicated to the history of Islamic civilization, its great scholars, intellectual traditions, cultural monuments, and the major achievements of the Islamic world. In addition, plans were announced to prepare an Annual International Report on the State of Islamic Civilization Heritage.

The report will assess the condition of heritage sites, evaluate the outcomes of scholarly research, identify existing challenges, and examine prospects for international cooperation.

Forum participants also agreed to establish the International Youth Forum on Islamic Civilization, which will serve as a permanent platform for young scholars, students, and professionals working in the field of Islamic civilization.

They further approved the establishment of the International Union of Museums of Islamic Culture, Art, and Civilization, bringing together leading museums, museum complexes, exhibition institutions, and specialized organizations from different countries. The Union will strengthen cooperation among museums, organize joint exhibitions, promote scholarly research, implement restoration, educational, and digitization projects, facilitate the exchange of museum collections, best practices, and professional expertise, and contribute to the preservation, study, and promotion of the rich heritage of Islamic culture, art, and civilization.

The Tashkent Declaration also announced that the first session of the forum approved the election of the International Council of the International Islamic Civilization Forum as its permanent coordinating body. The Council has been entrusted with consolidating all initiatives and proposals put forward by forum participants, preparing and approving an international cooperation roadmap through 2030 based on those proposals, and presenting this roadmap to forum participants, international organizations, and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan as the practical mechanism for implementing the Declaration.
