Governor of the Tuscany Region: “The Islamic Civilization Center should be promoted more widely around the world”

On 14 July 2026, a delegation led by Eugenio Giani, Governor of Italy’s Tuscany Region, visited the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan, established at the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The delegation was accompanied by Laziz Kudratov, Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Following the tour, Eugenio Giani shared his impressions, describing the Center as an important educational institution that plays a vital role in presenting Uzbekistan to the international community:

“The Center left a truly profound impression on me. The history of Uzbekistan is presented here in an exceptionally meaningful and engaging way, immersing visitors in the course of historical events. It was genuinely inspiring to witness. I would especially like to emphasize that this Center plays an important role in introducing Uzbekistan to the world. Uzbekistan deserves to be promoted and recognized much more widely across the globe. In this regard, I highly value the future prospects of relations between Italy and Uzbekistan. We need to further strengthen cooperation with countries that are committed to peace, culture, and mutual understanding,” said Eugenio Giani.

During the visit, the delegation toured the Center’s museum exhibitions in detail. The guests were introduced to the scholarly and educational traditions that flourished on the territory of present-day Uzbekistan, the contributions of the great scholars of Mawarannahr to Islamic civilization and global scientific progress, as well as rare manuscripts, the art of calligraphy, architectural masterpieces, and outstanding works of art.

The exhibitions offered a comprehensive narrative spanning from ancient civilizations to the flourishing of Islamic scholarship, the First and Second Renaissances, the intellectual legacy of great thinkers, and the special attention being given to cultural heritage and enlightenment in New Uzbekistan. At the Center, history is presented not merely as a sequence of events, but as a rich educational experience revealing the profound interconnectedness of knowledge, culture, enlightenment, and civilizations.

At the conclusion of the visit, Firdavs Abdukhalikov, Director of the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan, emphasized the Center’s global significance, highlighting its role in promoting Uzbekistan’s rich scholarly and cultural heritage on the international stage and fostering dialogue among civilizations. He also noted that the Center is a major educational initiative launched at the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to present the nation’s historical legacy to the world through a modern and innovative format.

The visit concluded with an exchange of commemorative gifts between the two sides. Eugenio Giani also signed the Center’s Book of Honored Guests, leaving a heartfelt message reflecting on his visit.
