INFORMATION LETTER

To strengthen dialogue among civilizations and promote the true humanitarian and enlightenment-oriented essence of Islam, a major international forum will be held in Uzbekistan.

The forum is a logical continuation of the historic initiative announced by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, during the 72nd Session of the United Nations General Assembly in 2017, where he proposed establishing the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan under the motto “Enlightenment against Ignorance.” The event aims to present Uzbekistan’s rich scholarly and spiritual heritage to the international community while fostering harmony among civilizations.

Theme of the Forum:

The First International Islamic Civilization Forum: The Path of Peace, Tolerance, and Enlightenment

Dates:
7–11 July 2026

Venue:
Tashkent, Samarkand, and Termez, Uzbekistan

Principal Organizers:

  • Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan
  • Committee on Religious Affairs
  • Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center
  • Imam Maturidi International Scientific Research Center

The Forum is expected to bring together nearly 300 participants from the Middle East, North Africa, Central and South Asia, and Europe.

The main events of the Forum will be held on 7–8 July at the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan, established at the initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The plenary sessions devoted to various aspects of Islamic civilization will feature addresses by leaders of prominent international organizations, ministers responsible for culture and religious affairs, grand muftis, distinguished scholars, and prominent Islamic intellectuals.

The second part of the Forum will continue on 9–10 July with four international conferences dedicated to the scholarly legacy of three great scholars of Mawarannahr, to be held in Samarkand and Termez:

1. Samarkand Region – “Imam Bukhari’s Al-Jami‘ as-Sahih: The Book of the Ummah” International Conference.

2. Samarkand Region – “The Legacy of Imam Maturidi: The Foundation of Moderation and Rational Thought in Islamic Civilization” International Conference.

3. Samarkand Region – “Central Asia: A Crossroads of Ideas, Discoveries, and Civilizations” International Conference.

4. Surkhandarya Region – “The Termez School of Hadith: The Heritage of Scholars and Contemporary Research” International Conference.

At the conclusion of the Forum, participants are expected to sign a Roadmap outlining future cooperation in the development of Islamic civilization and adopt the Tashkent Declaration of the First International Islamic Civilization Forum.

Within the framework of the Forum, international guests will be offered cultural visits to the Islamic Civilization Museum in Tashkent, listed in the Guinness World Records, the Imam Bukhari Memorial Complex, as well as major pilgrimage sites in Samarkand and Termez.
