The first comprehensive presentation of the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan in Japan was jointly organized in Tokyo by the Embassy of Uzbekistan and the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan, Dunyo News Agency reported.

The event brought together representatives of Japanese educational and cultural institutions, private companies, tourism organizations, members of the diplomatic corps of the Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan, scholars, researchers, media representatives, as well as Uzbek nationals and students residing in Japan.

Participants were introduced to the main objectives and mission of the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan, established at the initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Detailed information was presented on the Center’s work in studying the history of Islamic civilization, science and culture, as well as its efforts to collect, preserve, and promote rare manuscripts and cultural heritage. It was also emphasized that the Center serves not only as a museum and a scientific and educational complex, but also as an international platform fostering dialogue among different peoples and civilizations.

As part of the presentation, participants learned about the key themes reflected in the Center’s exhibitions, including Uzbekistan’s rich historical and cultural heritage, the invaluable contributions of great scholars such as Imam Bukhari, Imam Termizi, and Imam Maturidi to world scholarship and Islamic thought, as well as the role of Amir Temur and the Timurid era in the development of civilization.

Professor Tursunali Kuziev, adviser to the director of the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan, delivered a lecture entitled “Towards the future through enlightenment.” He emphasized the Center’s important role in restoring historical memory, preserving cultural heritage, passing it on to future generations, and promoting international academic and cultural cooperation.

Professor Manabu Shimizu of the Institute of Developing Economies (IDE), Japan, noted in his remarks that Uzbekistan’s Third Renaissance initiative and the activities of the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan are making a significant contribution to promoting the country’s rich spiritual and cultural heritage on the international stage. He also stressed that the Center would serve as an important platform for further strengthening academic, cultural, and humanitarian ties between Japan and Uzbekistan.

During the event, participants watched a presentation film about the activities of the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan. Video materials dedicated to the great scholars of Uzbekistan, as well as a photo exhibition showcasing the country’s cultural heritage and architectural monuments, also attracted considerable interest.

The presentation marked another important step toward strengthening the international standing of the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan, introducing its scientific and educational potential to foreign partners, and elevating cultural and humanitarian cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan to a new level.
