The international conference titled “National Unity – The Driving Force of the New Uzbekistan Development!” continued its work in Tashkent.

Speaking at the event, Kakhraman Sariev, Chairman of the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Compatriots Abroad under the Republic of Uzbekistan, emphasized that ensuring interethnic harmony and tolerance is one of the key priorities of the country’s state policy.

As noted, the conference began with the congratulatory message addressed to the people of Uzbekistan by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the occasion of July 30 — Peoples’ Friendship Day. The Committee Chairman stressed that the President's message carries important programmatic significance in further uniting the country's multinational population and strengthening the atmosphere of mutual respect and solidarity.

In his speech, he emphasized that the interethnic harmony and unity prevailing in the country are not accidental, but rather the practical result of the consistent state policy pursued under the leadership of the President. Today, representatives of more than 130 nations and ethnic groups live peacefully in Uzbekistan, and all the necessary conditions have been created for them to preserve and develop their languages, cultures, national values, and traditions.

He also drew attention to the fact that strengthening interethnic harmony and ensuring equal rights and opportunities for citizens regardless of their nationality or religion remain among the key priorities of state policy. It was noted that the normative and legal acts adopted in recent years have led to the formation of a new institutional and legal framework in this sphere, while the reorganization of the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Compatriots Abroad in 2025 serves as a clear example of the state's strong commitment to this important area.

Kakhraman Sariev noted that the designation of July 30 as Peoples’ Friendship Day by law serves to further strengthen the atmosphere of mutual respect, friendship, and tolerance among representatives of different nationalities living in the country. In this regard, he emphasized that, starting from July 24 this year, folk festivals, concert programs, scientific conferences, exhibitions featuring national cultural centers, and various educational events have been taking place across all regions of the country as part of the Friendship Festival.

During his speech, he also pointed out that the international conference is one of the key events of the Friendship Festival. He noted that the participation of representatives of international organizations, foreign scholars and experts, government agencies, public organizations, national cultural centers, media outlets, and bloggers has further enhanced the prestige of the event.

It was also announced that, within the framework of the festival, nearly one hundred active individuals who have made significant contributions to strengthening cooperation with ministries and government agencies, national cultural centers, friendship societies, and compatriots abroad are expected to be awarded the “Peoples’ Friendship” badge of honor.

In conclusion, Kakhraman Sariev expressed confidence that the initiatives and proposals put forward during the conference would further strengthen the spirit of national unity in society, promote mutual respect and trust among peoples, advance friendly relations between countries, and elevate cooperation in supporting compatriots abroad to a new level.
