Paul Kapur: “Here, you not only see history, but you feel it”

U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Samir Paul Kapur visited the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan.

The centuries-old history of Islamic civilization and its immense contribution to the advancement of science, culture, and education are presented in a comprehensive and compelling manner throughout the exhibitions of the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan. During his visit, Samir Paul Kapur closely explored galleries illustrating historical developments from pre-Islamic civilizations to the era of New Uzbekistan, the scholarly and intellectual legacy of great scholars, rare manuscripts, sacred artifacts, and interactive exhibitions created using modern digital technologies.

The guest paid particular attention to the thematic coherence of the exhibitions and the way historical developments are presented as an interconnected continuum. He noted that the Center offers visitors not only an opportunity to learn about the past through museum exhibits, but also to experience the spirit of different historical periods and understand the connections between them.

Samir Paul Kapur shared his impressions as follows:

“This is a magnificent place. Exploring the centuries-long development of Islamic history and culture has been an unforgettable experience for me. Here, you do not simply learn about history through the pages of books; you see it with your own eyes, you feel it, and it is as though you are immersed in those historical periods. For this reason, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who contributed to the creation of this unique place.

I would certainly recommend that young people visit as well. This place offers an opportunity not only to learn about history, but also to understand the profound connection between the past and the future. One of the most memorable moments for me was the holographic presentation dedicated to the Holy Qur’an. It left a profound impression on me and was deeply moving.

I believe this institution will help showcase to the entire world the immense contribution of Islamic civilization to global civilization. Therefore, everyone should visit this place and personally discover this rich and invaluable heritage.”

According to Paul Kapur, the significance of the Center extends far beyond showcasing historical heritage. It also serves as an important educational and cultural platform for the younger generation, enabling them to understand the lessons of the past, appreciate the role of science and enlightenment in the development of civilization, and foster respect for both national and universal values.

At the conclusion of his visit, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Samir Paul Kapur noted that he was deeply impressed by the Islamic Civilization Center and emphasized its important role in presenting this rich historical heritage to the international community through modern museum technologies and compelling methods of presentation.
