Representatives of major news agencies, television channels, and media organizations from Arab countries will participate in the “Islamic Civilization: New Perspective — New Discoveries” International Media Forum, to be held in Tashkent and Samarkand.
Among the participants are Najeh Missaoui, Director General of Tunisia’s TAP News Agency, and Fuad Ahmed Yousef Mohammed, Director General for News at Yemen’s Saba News Agency. They will take part in an international discussion titled “Echoes of heritage: how does Islamic civilization resonate in the global media landscape?”
Egypt will be represented at the discussion by Abdelsamiaa Abbas Abdelmoaty Hussein Refat, Vice President of the Afro-Asian Media Union. Participants will exchange views on how the historical, scholarly, and cultural heritage of Islamic civilization can be effectively communicated to global audiences through modern media.
A separate part of the program will focus on the role of the media in combating stereotypes and Islamophobia. The discussion will feature Asim bin Salem Al Shaidi, Editor-in-Chief of Oman Observer, and Hussein Hashim Al Saedi Dheyaa, Director of a Department at Iraq’s state-run Al-Iraqiya News Channel.
Saud Abdul-Badi, Director of Protocol and Public Relations at the Union of OIC News Agencies under the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, will participate from Saudi Arabia.
Representatives of Arab media outlets, together with their colleagues from other regions, will discuss new formats for promoting cultural heritage, methods of engaging international audiences, as well as the potential of television, news agencies, and digital platforms.
The International Media Forum will be held in Tashkent and Samarkand from August 24 to 29, 2026.
The main venue of the Forum will be the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan. It will bring together 300 representatives of the media and expert community from nearly 50 countries, including executives of media companies, news agencies and television channels, journalists, producers, scholars, and creative industry professionals.
