The second plenary session of the international media forum “Islamic Civilization: New Perspective — New Discoveries” was held under the theme “Great historical figures: new media formats for promoting Islamic heritage.” The session featured documentaries, digital projects, books, international publishing initiatives, and new formats for presenting history to a global audience.

During the session, video addresses by Victorina Petrosyants, Chief Producer of VIKO TV Company, and Yücel Kılıçkaya, Head of TRT Avaz, were shown to the forum participants.

Special attention was also given to digital formats during the forum session. NeoVex representatives Almos Fakhriddinov and Sirojiddin Ubaydullayev presented the projects “Digital avatar: heroes of Islamic civilization in dialogue with the new generation” and “Uzbekistan 360°: a living heritage platform.”

Hasanbey Kondu, Chairman of the Board of Mega Basim Publishing House, presented the book-album “Great figures in the history of uzbekistan in eastern miniatures,” produced in cooperation with the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan.

Anastasia Zvyagina, Deputy Director General of the National Centre “Russia,” delivered a presentation titled “Through heritage — towards dialogue: cooperation between the national center ‘Russia’ and the Islamic Civilization Center.”

Sherzodkhon Qudratkhodja, Rector of the University of Journalism and Mass Communications of Uzbekistan, presented a project aimed at making history more engaging for young people through visual formats. Italian researcher Mario Taddei spoke about the influence of Eastern scientific thought on Leonardo da Vinci’s discoveries. Charlotte Kramer, President of Kulturalis Publishing House, participated with the project “How did Clavijo see Amir Temur’s great Samarkand?”

The programme also featured researcher Alexey Arapov’s project “The Timurid renaissance: creating a research ecosystem for Timurid studies.”

The international media segment continued with TRT World. Alican Ayanlar, host of TRT World’s Nextech programme, sent a video greeting to the forum participants and expressed his appreciation for the initiative. Umesh Vohra, Head of the Planning Department at TRT World, presented the project “The Islamic Civilization Center through the lens of TRT world: digital heritage,” along with a special excerpt from the channel’s film.

Erkin Muhammedjanov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the “Qazaqstan” TV channel, presented the documentary film project “Patterns that unite us.”

The session concluded with an open international discussion titled “Great figures of Islamic civilization in a new interpretation: how can we engage 21st-century audiences?” It brought together representatives of media outlets from Kuwait, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, including The Times Kuwait, Report.az, The Diplomatic Insight, Avesta, UzA, and Kun.uz.

The main venue of the forum is the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan. It brings together around 300 representatives of the media and expert communities from nearly 50 countries, including executives of media companies, news agencies and television channels, as well as journalists, producers, scholars, and creative industry professionals.
