On August 27, a special educational and cultural program was organized in Samarkand for journalists, executives of major media companies, producers, scholars, and experts from nearly 50 countries as part of the international media forum “Islamic Civilization: New Perspective — New Discoveries.”

The first destination of the visit was the remarkable Imam Bukhari Complex, dedicated to the great hadith scholar and one of the most distinguished scholars of the Islamic world. The complex has undergone extensive reconstruction at the initiative of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Today, the complex has become one of the leading centers of pilgrimage and education dedicated to studying, preserving, and promoting Imam Bukhari’s scholarly and spiritual legacy internationally.

Media forum participants were provided with detailed information about the extensive construction and development work carried out at the complex, its architectural design, the facilities created for pilgrims and researchers, as well as the site’s scholarly and educational significance.

Imam Bukhari is recognized as a great hadith scholar who emerged from the land of Transoxiana and left a profound mark on the history of Islamic civilization. His work “Al-Jami’ al-Sahih” has been highly regarded for centuries as one of the most reliable and authoritative sources in the science of hadith.

In this regard, the site where the great scholar is laid to rest holds special significance not only as a place of pilgrimage, but also as a major spiritual center that brings together historical memory, scholarly heritage, and enlightenment.

As part of the Samarkand program, participants of the international media forum also familiarized themselves with the activities of the School of Hadith Studies. The guests were introduced to the institution’s main objectives, areas of scientific research, educational process, and ongoing efforts to train highly qualified specialists in hadith studies.

The School of Hadith Studies is dedicated to conducting in-depth research into the rich scholarly legacy left by the great hadith scholars of the past, continuing the traditions of hadith scholarship, and developing the field through modern academic approaches.

Alongside hadith and hadith studies, students receive in-depth education in the Holy Qur’an, tafsir, fiqh, aqidah, Islamic history, and foreign languages. This makes it possible to combine classical Islamic sciences with modern methods of education and research.

During the visit, foreign journalists and media professionals learned about the history of the scholarly schools that developed in Samarkand over the centuries, the significance of Imam Bukhari’s legacy in global Islamic thought, and the projects being implemented in Uzbekistan to pass this heritage on to future generations.

The visit of the international media forum participants to Samarkand is also of great significance in presenting Uzbekistan’s rich historical, scholarly, and spiritual heritage to the global media community directly at the historic sites themselves. At the same time, the visit is opening up new opportunities to introduce the legacy of great scholars, scholarly traditions, and the universal values of Islamic civilization to a broad international audience through modern media platforms.
