A meeting of elders and youth — an expression of spiritual continuity between generations

A meeting of elders and youth — an expression of spiritual continuity between generations

At the beginning of the event, participants familiarized themselves with the exhibitions of the museum of the Islamic Civilization Center. They were provided with information about the contributions of the great scholars and thinkers who emerged from the land of Uzbekistan to the development of world science, the periods of the First and Second Renaissances, rare manuscript sources, and the historical and cultural heritage.

While viewing the exhibitions, the elders particularly emphasized the importance attached at the Center to presenting historical heritage in harmony with modern technologies.

Labor veteran Gulomjon Boboev spoke about the construction of the Center and the improvement of the surrounding area, noting that this place is important not only for studying history but also for promoting Uzbekistan to the world.

“I myself grew up in this area. Before the Islamic Civilization Center was built, some of the historical monuments here had fallen into a neglected state. Today, however, the area has been completely transformed. Alongside the Center, hotels, shopping complexes, and catering facilities have been built. When tourists from different countries around the world come here, they will be able to visit not only the Center itself but also comfortably explore its surroundings,” he said.

The veteran highly praised the fact that the Center’s exhibitions give individual attention to each of the great scholars and present their scientific heritage in modern and accessible ways.

“When I entered the Islamic Civilization Center, I was amazed to see that each of the great scholars of our past had been given individual attention and explanation. It is especially encouraging that our young people come here and gain such valuable spiritual enrichment,” said Gulomjon Boboev.

At the meeting, Sodiqjon Turdiev, Chairman of the Nuroniy Foundation, Hero of Uzbekistan, and Senator, also addressed the participants. He emphasized the importance of effectively drawing on the life experience of the older generation in educating young people and continuing the “mentor–apprentice” tradition. He encouraged young people to remain committed to such values as pursuing knowledge, acquiring a profession or trade, diligence, honesty, and patriotism.

Gulnora Ganieva, Deputy Director of the Center, spoke about the attention being paid in Uzbekistan to raising the younger generation as spiritually mature, independent-minded individuals with a strong sense of responsibility for the future of their homeland. She also highlighted the Center’s activities aimed at studying the scientific and spiritual heritage of our ancestors and promoting it widely among young people.

During the sincere and open dialogue, the elders shared their rich life experience and expressed their views on the importance of knowledge and enlightenment in human life.

Zafar Shonazarov, Adviser on Elders and Veterans in Olmazor District, particularly praised the extensive and compelling presentation of the heritage of great ancestors in the Center’s exhibitions. He noted that the exhibition dedicated to the scientific legacy of Abu Rayhan Beruni had made a particularly strong impression on him.

“I was amazed to learn that our great ancestor Beruni had suggested the existence of another continent on Earth long before America was discovered by Columbus. We must pass on the scientific legacy of such great ancestors to our young people,” said Zafar Shonazarov.

Digmatilla Inogomov, a member of the Olmazor District Council of Elders for Public Affairs, also shared his impressions of the visit and highly praised the conditions created for young people at the Center.

The young participants likewise noted that the Center’s exhibitions and the rare sources preserved in its library had aroused great interest among them.

Robiya Najimova, a ninth-grade student at School No. 241, said that she had learned a great deal of new information at the Center about the scientific heritage of great scholars, as well as the works and books they left behind.

“I was especially interested in the paths our scholars followed, the sciences they studied in ancient times, and the works they left for future generations. Seeing their great works and ancient books in the library made a strong impression on me,” said the young participant.

During the event, an open dialogue was held between the elders and young people, giving participants the opportunity to receive answers to questions of interest to them. In particular, they exchanged views on conveying the scientific heritage of great ancestors to the modern generation, preserving historical memory, and raising young people to be enlightened and patriotic individuals.

The meeting contributed to further strengthening the spiritual bond between generations, passing the life experience of the elders on to the younger generation, and encouraging young people to study the heritage of their ancestors more deeply.
