One of the oldest centers of learning in the United Kingdom the Bodleian Library at Oxford University houses a manuscript of Alisher Navoi’s Khamsa. One of the miniatures accompanying the manuscript features a depiction of King Nushirvan.
This particular miniature was created in 1485 by the order of Badiuzzaman Mirza, ruler of Khorasan, and is part of the work Hayrat ul-Abror.
The image serves not only as a historical source reflecting Navoi’s literary legacy but also as a distinguished example of 15th-century miniature art. It portrays the protagonist seated in conversation, dressed in traditional attire, set against a richly decorated background of calligraphy and architectural ornamentation.
Currently, a replica of this miniature is planned to be exhibited at the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan. This initiative aims to offer both local and international visitors a visual historical insight into Navoi and his era.
